IPL 2012: Gautam Gambhir (Kolkata Knight Riders) – 590 runs
During the fifth IPL, Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won their maiden IPL trophy. While the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Chris Gayle once again won the Orange Cap for scoring 733 runs, Gambhir finished in the next position with 590 runs (average 39.33 and strike-rate 143.55). The left-handed Indian batsman scored six fifties in that tournament, including the best score of 93 runs.
