MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will kick off the preparations for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League from March 2 in Surat. Following the 20-day camp, the players will land in Maharashtra for the season. CSK is placed in Group B along with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.

BCCI on Friday (February 25) made a mega announcement and confirmed that the tournament will be played in Maharashtra from March 26 to May 29. As many as 4 venues will host the tournament. The BCCI also announced two groups for the season.

MS Dhoni Led Chennai Super Kings Will Start IPL 2022 Season Preparations From March 2 In Surat

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings highlight Group B while Mumbai Indians (MI) are the top side in Group A. Since CSK and MI are in the same row, they will square off twice despite being in different groups. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans are other teams in Group B.

With the BCCI making mega announcements for the season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will kick off their preparations for the tournament soon. As per a report, the members of the MS Dhoni-led side will start preparing for the season from March 2 in Surat.
Apart from MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo and other top players will be part of the camp. The fans won’t be able to attend the practice sessions due to COVID-19 protocols.
“Top cricketing stars like MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja and other national and international stars will be part of the practice camp. The cricket franchise selected Surat as we have developed pitches using the same soil as it is in Mumbai,” Nainesh Desai, the cricket secretary of Surat District Cricket Association, said.
Chennai Super Kings had an available salary purse of Rs. 48 crores during IPL 2022 auction. Ahead of the auction, the IPL 2021 champions spent Rs. 42 crores out of their 90 crores to retain 4 players in their squad. The four-time IPL champions retained Ravindra Jadeja (16 Cr), MS Dhoni (12 Cr), Moeen Ali (8 Cr), and Ruturaj Gaikwad (6 Cr).

At the IPL 2022 auction, CSK completed its roster by buying 21 players across 2 days. They spent a huge sum of Rs 14 crore on Deepak Chahar. He is in doubt for IPL 2022. A source hinted that the hamstring issue could rule him out of the extravagant T20 league. He had joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for a mega sum of Rs 14 crore. They also re-signed the likes of Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, Mitchell Santner, and KM Asif.

The four-time IPL defending Champions had retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Moeen Ali before the IPL 2022 mega auction. The forthcoming edition of the IPL 2022 will open with a match between four-time champions Chennai Super Kings and two-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on March 26.
Mumbai will host 55 matches this season, spread across the Wankhede Stadium, the Brabourne Stadium in the Cricket Club of India, and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. 15 matches will be held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association’s stadium in Pune. The IPL playoffs are likely to be held in Ahmedabad.
