MS Dhoni’s falling out from the BCCI’s central contracts led the speculations of his retirement from the game of cricket. Fans also believed that the ICC World Cup 2019 was the last time they saw him donning the Indian jersey. But there is a good piece of news for Indian fans because many are hopeful in seeing the wicket-keeper batsman with Men in Blue during the 2020 T20 World Cup which is scheduled in Australia, later this year.

On Thursday (January 16), BCCI announced the list of the players who are included in the annual central contract for September 2019-October 2020. After seeing Dhoni nowhere in the contract list, the superfans of MSD expressed disappointment with BCCI’s decision. Soon after reports surfaced, the former Indian captain was informed of his ouster from the central contract.

Good News For Fans-No retirement:

From time-to-time selectors and the Indian team, management has mentioned that they have clarity over the future of legendary cricketer, Dhoni. Indian head coach Ravi Shastri also maintained that Dhoni will be considered for the T20 World Cup if he performs well in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Now, the Times of India reports has given more clarity over the entire episode. According to a source from TOI, Dhoni’s absence from the central contracts has nothing to do with his future in the Indian team, and he can still play for the Men in Blue.

“But that doesn’t mean he won’t be considered for any selection in the future,” said a TOI source.

The TOI report has also clarified that the wicket-keeper batsman Dhoni after playing the IPL 2020 will make himself available for the T20 World Cup. Thus, his addition to the national team will depend a lot on how he performs in the 13th edition of the IPL.

A well-known source also informed that his six-month break from the game has led his ouster from the game and once he returns to the field, he will be reincluded in the contract.
