Oshane Thomas Escapes Major Injury After Car Crash in Jamaica
West Indies pacer Oshane Thomas had met with an accident on Sunday. His car turned turtle during following a car collision in Jamaica. The pacer was soon taken to hospital in Jamaica. However, he was conscious when he was taken to a nearby hospital and has fortunately escaped any serious injury. Meanwhile, Oshane’s injury is also a threat to his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR).
According to the statement by West Indies Players’ Association, the pacer was involved in a motor vehicle accident on February 16. They also extended wishes for the speedy recovery of Thomas.
Well, also according to Jamaica Observer, the player is resting at home and was discharged from the hospital after a few scans and X-rays.
“The West Indies Players’ Association extends best wishes to West Indies and Jamaica fast-bowler Oshane Thomas who was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, February 16 in Jamaica,” WIPA said in a press release.
“WIPA’s executive and staff would like to extend our sympathies to Oshane. We wish for him a speedy and full recovery,” it added.
Also, on Tuesday (18th February), Thomas turned 23. He has played 20 ODIs and 10 T20Is, picking up 27 and nine wickets respectively in the limited-overs cricket.
Oshane Thomas’ injury threat for Rajasthan Royals:
Meanwhile, the player has been left out of West Indies’ ODI squad for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. But his injury might also exclude him from the T20I squad. His next assignment will be the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Royals’ player made the debut in the IPL last year. He picked five wickets in four games.
The franchise might be praying for the speedy recovery of Thomas as their premier pacer Jofra Archer is already set to miss out on the upcoming IPL season. England cricketer has been ruled out of the popular league because he surfaced with the stress fracture in the right elbow.
