ToggleAfter a lot of doubt and confusion, finally, the decision is taken by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to trade the experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to Delhi Capitals (DC). The Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting is glad about veteran’s entry in the team.
Kings XI Punjab is ready to acquire Jagadeesha Suchith and trade Ashwin to Delhi Capitals for the next season. Ashwin was the captain of KXIP in the last two seasons. Under Ashwin’s captaincy, the franchise was not able to fulfil their long dream to lift the trophy.
Ashwin add the Value to the team: Ponting
The home ground of Delhi Capitals helps the spinners so Ashwin will be beneficial for the team, detects Ricky Ponting. The Delhi Capitals coach pointed out that Ashwin’s presence in any team would be an added value.

“Ashwin adds a lot of value to any team that he is a part of, and I am sure it is going to be no different when he joins Delhi Capitals. It is no secret that the pitch on our home ground is on the slower side, and is known to assist spinners. I believe, Ashwin, with his clever bowling, will have a tremendous impact when he bowls on it,” Delhi Capitals coach Ponting said in an official statement
Delhi Capital Welcomes Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin has also been the part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). In the forthcoming season, we will see Ashwin in Delhi Capitals’ jersey. Delhi Capitals, earlier known as Delhi Daredevils, has also not lifted the trophy of IPL. In IPL 2019, Delhi Capitals was the first time in the playoffs after seven years. This time franchise is expecting to lift the trophy.
Delhi Capitals co-owner welcomes Ashwin for becoming the new member in the team. He opines that the experienced spinner will be productive for the team.
“I would like to wish Suchith all the very best, and I am sure he will excel in his new team. I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Ravichandran Ashwin to the Delhi Capitals family,” Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal said.

“He is easily one of the best and most experienced spinners around, with a tremendous record in India and IPL colours. There is no doubt in my mind that Ashwin’s presence will benefit our team tremendously, as we eye the big prize – the IPL title,” he added.
In 2010 and 2011, CSK lifted the IPL trophy and Ashwin was the part of the team. He has played 139 IPL matches and managed to pick up 125 wickets.
