The Indian limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer to hit more than one double-hundred in ODIs. In fact, the 33-year-old right-handed batsman has smashed three double-centuries in ODI career. Now, he talked about his favourite innings.
Since Rohit was promoted for the opening batting position, he became very consistent and destructive batsman. Like the skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit is also a very crucial batsman of the Indian team, and the national team’s success in limited-overs cricket majorly depends on their batting. At present, he is the no.2-ranked ODI batsman.
Rohit has played 32 Tests, 224 ODIs and 108 T20Is, where the right-handed batsman has scored 2141 runs (average 46.54), 9115 runs (average 49.24) and 2773 runs (average 32.62) respectively. While Rohit is India’s most-capped T20I player, he is the second-most run-scorer in overall T20I cricket history. Talking about his extraordinary batting performances, apart from hitting one Test double-century and four T20I centuries, Rohit also hit three incredible ODI double-centuries.

After scoring 209 against Australia during the Bengaluru ODI on 2nd November 2013, Rohit played the record knock of 264 runs against Sri Lanka during Kolkata ODI on 13th November 2014. Later on 13th December 2017, during his marriage anniversary, Rohit became only the second ODI captain to hit a double-century (Virender Sehwag was the first captain who scored 219 runs in 2011) as he scored 208 not out against Sri Lanka at Mohali.

My first double century against Australia has to be my favourite innings: Rohit Sharma
Though all of those three ODI double-centuries were Rohit’s very special innings, he chose his first ODI double-century as the favourite knock.

Rohit recently told Mohammed Shami during an Instagram live session, “My first double century against Australia has to be my favourite innings, it was very special, my second double hundred, 264 against Sri Lanka is also a special inning for me, the third double century came on the day on my marriage anniversary, so all three innings are very special for me”.
