Indian cricketer S Sreesanth expressed that it’s not good for India to play the series against Pakistan in the current situation. The two arch-rivals only compete with each other during the ICC events or multi-nation series that too not on their home grounds.

India and Pakistan relations are always tense, and because of political issues, the two countries have stopped playing bilateral series. Sreesanth’s statement came after Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has given the idea to host India and Pakistan series to raise funds to combat the coronavirus which has halted the business all the world.

According to Sreesanth, India and Pakistan didn’t have good relations so his countrymen should not play the game with them.

“We are not in good terms with Pakistan so, India first and health first. Personally, I am not in favour of playing any match against Pakistan unless the relations between the two countries improve,” said Sreesanth in an Instagram live chat.

After Akhtar gave the bold statement on organizing the series during the pandemic, many cricketers have given their view on it. His ex-teammate Shahid Afridi has agreed with Akhtar’s proposal while many other Pakistani cricketers have disagreed with him.

On the other hand, Former Indian captain Kapil Dev has strictly disagreed with Akhtar. He said that the game is not worth risking the lives of the player amid the deadly virus is increasing rapidly. Sunil Gavaskar had also disagreed, citing that there are more chances to snow in Lahore than India-Pakistan series.

Thus, Akhtar’s statement has created a big debatable topic among the cricketers. The two cricketing nations have not locked horns together in a bilateral series since 2012. Whereas, India last toured Pakistan in 2006.

If the circumstances get normal before October, India, and Pakistan face each other in the T20 World Cup 2020 scheduled in Australia.
