Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury has revealed that they were talking with Sanjay Bangar and few others for the Test batting consultant role of the men’s national team. Bangar revealed his present position on this matter.

Former South African cricketer Neil McKenzie, who is holding the role of batting consultant of Bangladesh team in the limited-overs cricket, is currently also handling the Test batting consultant role due to the vacant position.

However, the BCB has understood that McKenzie is not interested in continuing the Test batting consultant role for a long time. So, they are searching for the proper man who can take this responsibility efficiently.

While the board members are talking with some specialised persons for this role, the former Indian cricketer and assistant coach Sanjay Bangar is one of them. However, the board also clarified that nothing was finalised on that matter yet.

Sanjay Bangar is currently not in the position to take up the Test batting consultant role of Bangladesh team

Bangar has clarified that the BCB offered him for that role around two months ago. But due to his personal and professional commitments, he is unable to take up this role at the present moment. However, he has also wished to work with them in the future.

Bangar told PTI, “They offered me the position eight weeks ago. But in the interim, I finalised my contract with Star which gave me the opportunity to balance out my personal and professional commitments. However, I look forward to working with BCB in the future.”

On the interim basis, Bangar is currently under the contract with Star Sports.

Bangar has good experiences in coaching. He played the coaching role for the India A, Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KRK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) before taking up the batting coach role of the senior Indian team. He spent with the team from August 2014 to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. In the second half of that journey, Bangar took up the role of the assistant coach. He also played the head coach role of that team on the interim basis.
