India’s southpaw batsman Shikhar Dhawan had to deal with a nasty blow while playing for the A side in the fifth unofficial ODI match. The game was truncated to 20-overs after rain intervention at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. Dhawan was opening the innings with Sanju Samson and the southpaw batsman tried to scoop the ball over the wicket-keeper’s head while facing Beuran Hendricks in the third over of the innings.

However, the left-hander could not make a connection with the ball and the bouncer hit him on the neck. Subsequently, Dhawan received medical attention from the physio. In fact, Dhawan who likes to enjoy himself in the middle made a joke to his batting partner Sanju Samson.

Dhawan said, Ball dekh toot gya hoga (check the ball, it would have been destroyed). The left-hander was able to make a solid comeback after the blow as he scored a fine knock of 51 runs from 36 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes.

On the other hand, Sanju Samson once again showed the talent he possesses. The stylish right-hander scored a fine knock of 91 runs from 48 balls and he was awarded the Man of the match.
Sanju Samson and Shikhar Dhawan added a sublime alliance of 135 runs for the opening wicket with the young partner doing the bulk of the scoring.

Consequently, India A posted a par score of 204 runs in the 20 overs. South Africa could only manage 168 runs and the hosts won the match by 36 runs. Subsequently, India A won the five-match series by 4-1.
