The young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is recently facing wide criticism from Indian fans for his continuous struggles in international cricket. However, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly still has enough faith in this youngster as he feels that Pant will show his proper skills with time progress.
Rishabh Pant made his international debut in February 2017 through the T20I. In August 2018, Pant made his Test debut. Later, in October 2018, Pant played his first ODI. He started his international career in an impressive way. But he has mostly struggled in this year.
Though he is still getting good starts, his continuous poor shot selections are denying his big scores. The 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has recently made similar mistakes quite a number of times. Sometimes, his performances have put his team into dangerous situations.
Rishabh Pant is also a very talented wicketkeeper. But recently he has failed to showcase his consistency as a wicketkeeper too.
Due to these continuous struggles, Rishabh Pant is facing massive criticism from everywhere. Recently, he was excluded from the Test playing XI too.
Rishabh Pant is a superb player – Sourav Ganguly
However, the former Indian captain and present BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is strongly defending the youngster. Ganguly, who worked closely with Pant in Delhi Capitals (DC) during IPL 2019, feels that the youngster will mature slowly.
Ganguly told PTI on Friday (8th November), “He’s a superb player. Give Rishabh Pant time, he will be fine. He will mature slowly, you have to give him time. India played really well last night.”
Rishabh Pant has already played 11 Tests, 12 ODIs and 22 T20Is for India.
After joining as a BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly has quickly managed to schedule India’s first-ever day-night Test match. The upcoming India-Bangladesh Test match (22-26 November) at Eden Gardens (Kolkata) will be the first-ever day-night Test in India as well as it will be also the first-ever day-night Test for both India and Bangladesh.
