Danushka Gunathilaka under the hammer, again
The enquiry on the subject is still pending though. The suspension was handed to the opener just after an enquiry conducted by the SLC which reported the batsman had violated the ‘Player Code of Conduct’.
The suspension will come into effect after the conclusion of the ongoing 2nd Test match between Sri Lanka and South Africa. Match fees of Gunathilaka will get withheld until Sri Lanka Cricket receives the outcome of the investigation.
More details on this particular aspect awaits. The nature of the opening batsman’s offence hasn’t been disclosed to media yet. It will be known only after the investigation.

Meanwhile, it must be noted this is not the first time that Gunathilka has been suspended from international cricket.
The left-hander was handed a six-match ban from the limited-overs format in October last year. He was handed the suspension against Pakistan. Gunathilaka had allegedly missed the training session after a late night party.
The Suspension later got curbed to three matches
The suspension then got cut down to three games. The remaining three matches were part of the suspended sentence for one year.
He might be suspended yet again if the opener breaches any further disciplinary measures. He further got fined 20% of his annual contract fees. It was only in January he was reprimanded by SLC for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
It happened during ODI tri-series in Mirpur. Hence, he was handed over a demerit point to his disciplinary record. The southpaw has represented the national team in four Tests, 33 ODI’s and 15 T20I’s so far.
He has been an impressive player for Sri Lanka and has scored over 1,000 runs in his international career so far. The medium pacer has also bagged 12 wickets so far with his dibbly-dobbly medium pacers.
