The players’ draft of “The Hundred” took place on 20th October 2019 at Sky Studios in Osterley. Surprisingly, some big names, including Chris Gayle and Lasith Malinga, have missed out getting a team.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has brought out a new tournament “The Hundred”. It is a professional 100-ball cricket tournament in England and Wales. This tournament will be played for the first time in July 2020.

A total of eight teams will participate in the inaugural edition of “The Hundred”. All these teams participated in the recent players’ draft.

Earlier, all the teams chose one men’s central contract player, two men’s local icons and two England women’s central contracted players.

In the draft, the teams picked up remaining men’s players, including three overseas players. Each team can still add one more wildcard player after the next season’s Vitality Blast.

During that draft, each team announce their one marquee player in the women’s squad. There is no players’ draft for the women’s team. Each women’s team can finalise the squad until the end of May 2020.

However, some shocking pictures in the players’ draft were that some big players didn’t get a team. Only 10,000+ T20 run-scorer Chris Gayle, top two T20 wicket-takers – Dwayne Bravo and Lasith Malinga, all have failed to get a team.
