In 2013, then Indian captain MS Dhoni faced the charges of “conflict of interest”.

According to the reports, MS Dhoni had a 15% stake in Rhiti Sports Management, the company which also managed some Indian and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players’ contracts. Meanwhile, Dhoni was also the vice-president of Narayanaswami Srinivasan-owned company India Cement. At that time, Narayanaswami Srinivasan was the BCCI president. That overall situation was a matter of conflict of interest for Dhoni.

As Dhoni was then leading India in all the formats, his stake with Rhiti Sports Management (also managed some other Indian players’ contracts) created another conflict of interest for him.

Some former Indian cricketers criticized Dhoni for these controversies.

However, those controversies didn’t run long. Later, Rhiti Sports Management clarified that Dhoni had no stakes in that firm at the time of the dispute.
