The Indian captain Virat Kohli is famous for his incredible fitness. Recently, he credited Shanker Basu for the most significant transition in his career. Undoubtedly, the 31-year-old Virat Kohli has admitted that fitness is everything for him. Then he revealed how Shanker Basu helped him to achieve the greatness in fitness. Providing total faith, Basu added lifting in Kohli’s routine, where the present Indian and RCB captain had hesitation at the beginning. Soon, Kohli was amazed to see the result. In the recent Instagram chat, Kohli told the Indian national football team captain Sunil Chhetri, “Fitness is everything for me. The biggest transition in my career came in 2015 because of Mr. Shanker Basu.

“He was with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) then and he told me that he was going to introduce lifting into my routine. I was hesitant at first but he told me that ‘you have to trust me’. It was something new to me and I had total faith in him [to help me through that]. I was amazed at the results I saw in three weeks. Then he told me what and how to eat, and that’s when I started paying attention to my body. I am not naturally lean or lanky so I had to work hard for it.”

He continued, “Everyone kept talking up my fitness regime but for me, I just did the basic requirements to do my job well. To be my best, I need to that and I just lived up to my responsibility. Until the day I play this sport, I am going to be a maniac. If you can’t work hard, you can’t be here.”

Virat Kohli revealed one of the knocks which he wished he had played

Kohli said, “The ease with which he played the lap shot was brilliant. He had so much control, it was so delicate. I could never play that shot like him. I would like to steal that.”

Virat Kohli praised the Portugal and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo for his strong mentality. Talking about this, Kohli brought the example of Round of 16 fixture between Atletico Madrid and Juventus in the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League. After losing the away leg by the 2-0 margin, Ronaldo announced to show something special in the return leg. In the home match, Ronaldo claimed a hat-trick and guided his team Juventus to the quarter-final.
