India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant continues to impress with his verbal abilities from behind the stumps in the ongoing first Test against Australia. Throughout the first innings, he was seen motivating the bowlers and having a go at the opposition batsmen. From asking R Ashwin not to bowl short to Travis Head to cheekily telling Usman Khawaja that he was not Cheteshwar Pujara, the youngster showed he is equally talented with his mouth.
Well, something similar happened in the ongoing second innings too. The incident occurred when Pat Cummins was facing R Ashwin. With Cummins yet to open his account, Pant saw the chance of getting under the Australia pacer’s skin and went for it straightaway.

The youngster challenged his ex-Delhi Daredevils teammate to hit a six, saying:“Let’s see some sixes, come on Patty!”. In an attempt to unsettle Cummins, Pant was also heard saying how hard it was to survive on the pitch.

Coming to the game, Australia were 186 for 6 at lunch, still needing 137 runs to win the game. Travis Head and Shaun Marsh had started the proceedings with the bat. However, the duo could not last long. Ishant Sharma gave India the much-needed breakthrough by sending back Head to reduce the hosts to 115 for 5.
