After a disappointing season where Liverpool has struggled to score goals, they are desperately looking for options to strengthen their attack. Liverpool finished sixth in the Barclays Premier League last season with only 62 points where they managed to score 52 goals only. None of their strikers were in form with their first choice striker Daniel Sturridge being injured for most part of the season, while Balotelli , Lambert and Borini all failed to impress. Their captain Steven Gerrard has also left for LA Galaxy who was their top scorer last season with 13 goals. Raheem Sterling who scored the second most number of goals -8 – is also likely to leave the club.

Liverpool is therefore very busy in the transfer market to improve their squad. They have already signed James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bodgan , Joe Gomez and Roberto Firmino. Now they are looking for a top striker who can score goals regularly which Liverpool lacked badly last season.

Liverpool has confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino whose goal scoring statistics are also very impressive apart from his creativity. Now signing of a good centre forward who can score at least 15 goals a season will improve their squad by leaps and bounds. According to Sky Sports, they are monitoring Carlos Bacca and Salomon Rondon who are featuring in Copa America 2015 for their respective countries. Liverpool targeted Christian Benteke as the number one priority but Aston Villa are asking £32.5 million which is too much for the club. Hence, Reds are now looking for alternatives.

Roberto Firmino has signed for Liverpool FC for £29 million has has become the second most expensive player in Liverpool’s history. Firmino has been in excellent form for 1899 Hoffenheim for the last two seasons. Although he is primarily an attacking midfilder, he can also play as a secondary striker or centre forward with his good goalscoring records which will be an asset for Liverpool. The 23 years old Brazilian has scored 10 goals and assisted 7 times last season for his club at Bundesliga. In 2013-14 season he scored 16 goals for his club. He has also the third most successful dribbles in Europe in the last two season after Eden Hazard and Lionel Messi. He has scored twice in Copa America for Brazi and still giving hopes to all Brazil fans in Neymar’s absence.

Salomon Rondon is a Venezuela International who plays for Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg.  The 25 year old had scored 13 goals in the Russian Premier League last season and 4 goals in UEFA cup competitions. He is currently on national duty with Venezuela at Copa America and has scored one goal. His goal scoring stats are quite impressive and LFC believe that getting him will solve the problems with their attack.

Carlos Bacca is another player on Liverpool’s radar who has been in great form for Sevilla last season.  The 28 years old Columbia International had scored 20 goals for Sevilla last season in the La Liga. He had also scored 7 goals in Europa League. Bacca scored twice in the Europa League final versus Dnipro and helped them to retain the Europa League once again. Bacca is currently on national duty also with Columbia at Copa America.

If Liverpool manages to get either Bacca or Rondon, it will a huge statement and a great business for the club. Bacca is currently in great form and capturing him will ensure LFC about at least 15 goals per season. Considering Sturrudge’s injury; they must show intent in the transfer market like they did it with Firmino and signed him from under Manchester United’s nose. A midfield consisting of players like Philippe Coutinho, Robert Firmino, Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson, James Milner etc is every striker’s dream. Liverpool must show character to bring a top striker to Anfield if they have ambitions of qualifying for Champions League Football.
