Andrade is currently serving a suspension for his first WWE Wellness Policy violation that will last for 30 days. The fortunate part is that he is still the United States Champion even after WWE officially announced the suspension. However, his good days may be coming to an end, pretty quick. If the recent reports are any indication then it’s only a matter of time that he drops his belt.
WWE To Suspend Rey Mysterio Soon; Potential Reason Revealed
Words from sources within WWE have indicated that Andrade won’t remain the United States Champion for long, according to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. There’s no confirmation on whether the recent WWE Wellness Policy suspension has anything to do with the planned title change. It comes as a surprise that WWE is thinking to take the title off this youngster without letting him make much impact.
As of now, Andrade is scheduled to return from his 30-day suspension on Thursday, February 27 at the WWE Super ShowDown pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia. He has been confirmed to participate in a six-man Gauntlet Match for the inaugural Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy. Alongside him, Rusev, R-Truth, Erick Rowan, Bobby Lashley, and AJ Styles will be the five other superstars competing in this match.
2020 WWE Women’s Elimination Chamber Match Details announced
It’s yet to be seen who does WWE consider as the replaced United States Champion in place of Andrade. He was in a rivalry against Humberto Carrillo during the last appearance on Raw. The 30-day absence of Andrade was shown via a storyline angle that caused an injury. Carrillo dropped him on the exposed concrete floor to write him off the TV. If the feud resumes following return then Carrillo remains the favorite to become the new United States Champion.
It will be interesting to see if WWE allows Humberto Carrillo holding the title until WrestleMania 36 in early April. The previous thinking was that Andrade will be the champion through the biggest event of the year as RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman was high on him and has had big plans. Those plans could have been scrapped and Humberto could end up receiving a push as the next top Mexican talent on the roster.
