Former UFC champion Conor McGregor took his official Instagram page to call out WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon. The post was also shared by The Mac Life, a brand owned by the 31-year-old superstar, posted a photoshopped image McGregor holding a UFC Title and the WWE Title, this week.
They posted an interesting caption with the photo saying, “‘All of the belts’ Do you think we’ll ever see the McGregor billi strut in the WWE? #themaclife #official #conormcgregor #thenotoriousmma #irishmma #ufc #ufcnews #sbgireland #mmanews #mma #mixedmartialarts #fightgame #wwe”
That wasn’t all as Conor McGregor‘s company then indicated a match against WWE owner Vince McMahon. They re-posted the same photo on their Instagram Stories and tagged WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon alongside the caption to the photo that read, “McMahon Vs McGregor CEO Flashmatch.” The photo certainly sent the sports entertainment to frenzy.
There have been rumors of a potential deal between WWE and Conor McGregor at different times in recent years but nothing had been finalized. In the meantime, McGregor is known for social media stunts and so this post can be considered as just another joke to turn heads of the WWE Universe and let them guess whether something is going on between the two parties.
Conor McGregor is a three-time UFC champion who recently announced his retirement from the sport in June. Following that, WWE is still rumored to sign him in a deal in the future so that they can use him as a special attraction just like they have done with another former UFC Champion Brock Lesnar or even Ronda Rousey.
However, on the flip side of the coin, Conor McGregor is someone who is infamous for his Notorious One gimmick who often went bad-mouth. Previously, he took shots against WWE superstars due to the scripted fights. This made the pro-wrestling industry go irate about him. Since then, no sign has been received whether WWE is indeed interested to sign him or not.
