WWE News: Daniel Bryan and Rowan Received New Challengers For Tag Team Title Defense
We are likely to get another championship match in the upcoming PPV edition named Stomping Grounds as per the storyline perspective on Smackdown. Last night, a brand new team arrived on the title picture to earn a future title shot against Daniel Bryan and Rowan. This should also mark the beginning of a new feud on the blue brand.
Initially, Daniel Bryan and Rowan were set to feature in a match against two rookie competitors on the show. Two jobbers were their opponents. But Heavy Machinery showed up urging for a title match. Hence, Bryan decided to let them compete in the match that must hand them a championship shot in the future.
So Heavy Machinery took part in the match and picked up an easy win after delivering a Caterpillar followed by The Compactor. This ensured a future tag team championship match between the two teams. However, WWE is yet to confirm any future contest featuring them.
Daniel Bryan and Rowan became the new Smackdown tag team champions, almost a month ago. Bryan returned to in-ring action from a concussion to capture another gold around his waist with his disciple around him. He claimed to save the lackluster tag team division of Smackdown.
But WWE never really arranged a proper feud for the tag team champs except for a couple of matches against The Usos. Once they got busy on Raw against The Revival, Daniel Bryan and Rowan had to sit out of action for sometimes.
Later, The Heavy Machinery confronted the Daniel Bryan and Rowan expressing their pledge to become new Smackdown tag team champions. The former members of the NXT roster have never really lived up to their potential ever since arriving at the main roster. But it was not their fault as the creative team never had good booking around them.
Finally, they allowed Heavy Machinery to appear on TV and have a match on Smackdown. It was a short affair against the rookie players from California that handed them over the number one contender’s spot. It is good to see the youngsters getting the spotlight and enter the title picture. The title match is likely to happen at Stomping Grounds PPV on June 23rd.
