As confirmed by WWE, the biggest event in live sports entertainment has been rescheduled in a big way for this year. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, WrestleMania 36 has been moved to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
It still takes place on April 5th but the huge Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay won’t be hosting the show. Plus, there won’t be any audience present on the show which lessened the main motive of hosting the show.
Saudi Arabia Offers WWE $75 Million To Host Wrestlemania In Riyadh?
At this point, health issues remain the first priority for the WWE superstars just like any other sportspersons which forced WWE to pull the plug on the profitable event.
An estimated profit of $75 million was expected by the WWE officials which could be scrapped due to the rescheduling except for the recoveries the company can make from the insurers. In the meantime, WWE has to be worried about Roman Reigns possibly getting infected by Coronavirus.
WWE Plans To Move Wrestlemania To Madison Square Garden
One of the main events of WrestleMania 36 will feature “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns challenging Goldberg for the Universal Championship. According to the recent reports of Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE Doctors are monitoring Roman Reigns for coronavirus because he has a ‘weak immune system due to CML leukemia.’
Previously, the four-time world champion had to take a break from WWE in 2018 to get cured of the disease that could cause even death.
Here’s more from the source,
“They have doctors who are going to monitor Roman Reigns, but he’s got a weakened immune system to a degree because the CML leukemia is in him for life.
He beat it. It may not come back, it may come back. CML is one of those things that can come back and you know, likely will and he’ll likely go through the same scenario that he did.
It’s one of those things that’s in you and it can come back. That’s one of the things that’s not really good as far as risk goes.”
Roman Reigns made a valiant comeback to singles contest at WrestleMania 35 in a match against Drew McIntyre, last year. Fast forward to this year, he is back on the main event scene to produce a dream match that we thought of becoming a reality in WWE 2K series only.
As of now, the poster boy of the WWE will appear live on this week’s SmackDown from the Performance Center in Orlando for a WrestleMania 36 contract signing with the Universal Champion Goldberg.
