It seems like the spring trimming season continues in WWE in a random fashion. Another wrestler, Drew Gulak is no more with the company from now onwards. The most surprising thing is that he was seen in action on this week’s SmackDown.

The very next night he was no more a WWE superstar, it appears. No effort was made from WWE’s side to keep him on the brand either making him a former member of WWE Universe.

Drew Gulak is reportedly no longer with WWE. As per the reports from PWInsider.com, Gulak was not released from the company but rather his contract expired after last night’s SmackDown was taped. Since his deal was not renewed, Gulak automatically became a non-active member of the WWE SmackDown roster. It’s pretty unfortunate that a bright talent like him who used to be a former champion had to be out of the company like that.

As noted in the report, WWE and Drew Gulak were trying to come to terms on a new deal that wasn’t reached. Since his WWE contract expired, he doesn’t have to serve a 90-day non-compete clause and sit out of action unlike the released superstars from the contract, who would be getting paid for 90 days and couldn’t compete until the timespan gets over. Gulak can wrestle anywhere at any time he wants as he has become a free agent in the pro-wrestling world.

Consequence-wise, Drew Gulak was moved to the WWE Alumni section. As seen on SmackDown, the Philadelphia resident wrestled his last match against Daniel Bryan. These two were seen competing in the first round of the WWE Intercontinental Championship tournament after Sami Zayn was forced to vacate the belt. Gulak ended up losing to his training partner and showed respect to him on the social media to fight another day against the former WWE Champion.

However, that’s not possible until and unless WWE signs him in a new contract in the future. Chances of the same are pretty less considering WWE cut down their budget to a big extent due to the coronavirus pandemic. On April 15th, several superstars and many other backstage talents lost their jobs in the process. Thus, Drew Gulak might have to remain as a former Cruiserweight Champion who was barely used in the main roster.
