The 11-time world champion and one of the greatest of all-time in WWE history, Edge opened up on his potential in-ring return. Despite most of the media outlets almost confirming his comeback at the Royal Rumble this Sunday, he went to rubbish all those reports during an interview with Live on 4 Legs.
Backstage Update On The New Contract Of Edge For Future WWE Return
“It’s kind of funny, to be honest. All of these rumors that I’ve been to Pittsburgh and I’ve been cleared to wrestle and I’ve signed a new contract. I have no idea where any of it came from,” stated Edge. “The last time I was in Pittsburgh I had my wrist fused in 2013. I don’t know.” (quotes courtesy wrestlingINC.com)

As noted earlier, Pittsburgh is where WWE’s Medical Director Dr. Joseph Maroon is situated. Edge visiting Pittsburgh was considered to be a trying to get cleared by Dr. Maroon with the hopes of possibly making a return on the Road to WrestleMania. But Edge commented in a sarcastic way, once again, wiping out all the chances of a comeback.
Edge To Face Former WWE Universal Champion At Wrestlemania 36?
“I would go to Pittsburgh to see Pearl Jam for sure but I haven’t been there and I haven’t signed a contract. I think I would know,” said Edge.
“I’ll get this tsunami of comments saying, ‘You’re coming back! You signed a contract.’ I really haven’t.”
It’s been almost nine years since we have seen Edge wrestling in a match in a WWE ring. He was forced to go into retirement due to a neck injury and subsequently relinquish the World Heavyweight championship.
Following this, the WWE Hall of Famer has shifted towards acting stint in numerous movies and TV flicks. Currently, he is in a recurring role on the TV series, Vikings.
Rumor Killer On Brock Lesnar Vs. Edge At WWE WrestleMania 36
With that being said, there have not been any chances to see him back in competition ever again especially considering the fact that one bad bump could cause him a lifetime paralysis.
But that hasn’t stopped people from speculating that Edge could be returning to the ring soon. The rumors were fuelled up from SummerSlam 2019 onwards where he returned to hit Elias with a spear. This was the first time that WWE used him in a physical capacity that anyone could barely think of.
Back in October, it was first reported that Edge was keeping contact with both WWE and AEW to weighing deals. Later, it was confirmed that he has ultimately decided to sign a deal with WWE and make a consecutive comeback during the WrestleMania season.
With Royal Rumble approaching near, words are doing around the internet suggesting that he could show up there and may even end up winning the bout.
Whether Edge shows up at Royal Rumble remains a wild speculation at this point. It should be noted that it was a decade ago in 2010 that the Rated R Superstar made a shocking return from an injury to go on to win the Rumble match. Could history be made, again? We have to wait until Sunday night to know more.
