On a March studio edition of WWE Backstage on FS1, it was first revealed that Rob Gronkowski was close to signing a deal with WWE. The Wrap then reported that Rob has already signed a deal with WWE and will debut on SmackDown.
That appeared to be true when his friend Mojo Rawley revealed the same. As promised by him, Rob debuted on this past edition of the show announcing a new match on the card.

It was then revealed the New England Patriots tight end has been selected to be the host of WrestleMania 36 which was pretty odd, this year. The show was canceled from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Rob Gronkowski had to welcome the WWE Universe instead in a crowd-free arena at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Triple H Happy For Not Performing At WWE Wrestlemania 36!
As much as it sounds weird, WWE will continue with this schedule for the next several weeks as the COVID-19 situation gets worse. Plus, they will also use Rob Gronkowski in a special way, moving forward.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Rob will work a “Brock Lesnar Schedule” in WWE. He will make sporadic appearances mostly during the bigger events like SummerSlam or Survivor Series, probably.
Here’s more from the source which also disclosed that Rob Gronkowski may be dealing with some pain issues from football career,
“Gronkowski has got a deal there.
He’s gonna be on the SmackDown side and he’s gonna be working some dates kinda like a Lesnar schedule.
Listen, he’s one of the greatest football players ever, maybe one of the greatest tight ends of all time. He’s got size, he’s got personality.
You know it’s kinda interesting because I don’t know how many concussions he’s had, but it’s a lot, a huge number and back problems.”
We can only hope it does not trouble Rob Gronkowski much as he is all set to start a career in a completely new sport where physicality is essential.
This is not the first time that Rob got involved in a WWE ring. He competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the WrestleMania 33 Kickoff Show and helped Mojo Rawley to win the match.
