Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) head coach, Sanjay Bangar points out the mistake their batters have done after their recent loss. As in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated RCB by 81 runs.
Now, Faf du Plessis-led RCB is in the 7th spot of the points table with one win and one loss this season, out of two matches the Bangalore-based franchise has played. Whereas, in the last game at Eden Gardens, Faf du Plessis-led RCB were bowled out for 123 runs in 17.4 overs, while chasing the target of 205 runs.

RCB’s head coach, Sanjay Bangar stated to alter their mistakes-
“Some of our batsmen, in hindsight, if they look back on their innings, probably they were not the time to attempt those big shots. That is something that we will certainly discuss with the players.
“Such games can happen because T20 is such a short format where if you lose momentum then the pressure sort of builds on you. We’ll go back to the drawing room and look to alter the mistakes that we did in this game,” said Bangar.
While in the chase, after the decent opening partnership between skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli for 44 runs under 5 overs, but wickets fell at regular intervals, with RCB’s skipper’s highest score of 23 runs in 12 balls, the opposition side was bowled out for 123 runs in 17.4 overs, in bowling for KKR, the young leg spinner Suyash Sharma picked three wickets in four overs.

“A lot of our batsmen were beaten on the inside edge of the bat. That is something that you generally do not tend to do against bowlers who do not turn the ball that much. That was an error that our batsmen did under pressure and something for us to work on going forward. We’ll certainly have to look at our methods and come back stronger,” he further added.
From Nitish Rana-led KKR, their three leg spinner or what is called ‘mystery spinners’ demolished RCB’s batting lineup, Varun Chakravarthy picked four wickets, Sunil Narine along with young leggie, Suyash’s three wickets, at one stage the visitors were on 96/9 in 15th over.
“I thought we were outplayed in all departments of the game. Yes, we took a couple of wickets with the new ball and then through the middle. But, the way Rinku batted and the way Shardul batted, I felt that they just took the game away from us. Then, obviously, with the bat nothing clicked for us. You can sum up the game like that only,” stated RCB’s head coach.
Earlier, RCB won the toss and opted to field, the home side led by Nitish Rana batted first, and opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave a kick start to the side with his 57 runs in 44 balls, later Rinku Singh and Shardul Thakur scored 46 and 68 runs respectively to take their side past 200 run mark, KKR posted 204/7 in 20 overs.
While, Bangar has been in the head coach post in RCB since 2021, for this season they will be looking to win the title after failing to do from the last 15th editions, in last season they finished in the third spot, while for their 3rd game of IPL 2023, Bengaluru based side will clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Bengaluru on April 10.
