We have seen a very interesting segment on this week’s edition of Smackdown Live. Shawn Michaels was the special guest on Miz TV. He was actually going to be a special guest commentator from the show that took place in Miami, Florida. But he showed up on the talk show hosted by The Miz also to confront Dolph Ziggler. The segment in a bad way where he ended up receiving a superkick from Ziggler.

The situation turned pretty interesting when Dolph Ziggler shared a picture on Twitter claiming that he should have a feud with Shawn Michaels. This fuelled up rumors that the WWE Hall of Famer may be returning to action yet again at the biggest event of the summer. However, a reliable source has confirmed that it’s definitely not happening.

Additionally, Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso has reported that Shawn Michaels advocated for Dolph Ziggler to arrange this segment. He was the one who instructed to mock his 2018 return during the promo segment on WWE Smackdown Live. We want to note on this context that the 54-year-old superstar had an in-ring comeback at WWE Crown Jewel which Ziggler mentioned as “embarrassing”.
A guy like Shawn Michaels would definitely digest that easily and addressed him saying as a “second-rate Shawn Michaels”. Thereafter, Dolph Ziggler proceeded to hit him with the pendant superkick. Now Barrasso has confirmed that it was none other than HBK himself who wanted the segment to happen on Smackdown, this week. Here’s more on what he said on his ‘Week in Wrestling’ column,
“Michaels, who was originally slated to do color commentary on the show, advocated for Ziggler to use the line slamming his 2018 return, Sports Illustrated has learned.”

Now, this definitely hinted a future matchup between Dolph Ziggler and Shawn Michaels. However, Dave Meltzer confirmed in his report on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the match is not happening. He has confirmed with his backstage sources and informed the same. But he also mentioned that Ziggler will be in action at Summerslam against someone else.
“We’ve also confirmed that there will be a Dolph Ziggler match on the show, but we were told it would not be against either The Miz (even though TV certainly lead you in that direction) or Shawn Michaels, who is not wrestling on the show.”
