John Cena Spoke On Movie Career And Potential WWE Wrestlemania Return
John Cena was a recent guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live to note on his multi-platform career. Ahead of the busiest season in the WWE, he took the time to speak whether he is willing to be back in wrestling or stay on a movie spree. The good thing is that he mentioned WrestleMania and hinted to be back on the biggest event of the year.
The interview started with the question where Kimmel asked him whether John Cena is in a wrestling or movie mode. In reply, Cena informed that he is currently filming the Suicide Squad sequel, which hits theaters on August 6, 2021. So wrestling stint had to take a backseat,
“You know, that’s a great question. Right now I’m smack dab in the middle of filming the new installment of Suicide Squad. Full, full, full movie mode, yes.”
As for Suicide Squad, it’s being reported that It’s been reported that John Cena will be playing Peacemaker. That’s what even is listed on the official IMDB page for the Suicide Sequel movie. However, the 16-time world champion would not confirm his character since he is obliged not to do so. He also joked saying that the DC Comics people were always keeping an eye on him.
The host Kimmel then asked John Cena about the last time when he wrestled in a WWE match. It was earlier noted that 2019 marked the first year since 2002 that Cena did not work a WWE pay-per-view match.
He has not wrestled since January 14, 2019, RAW episode but did return on the WrestleMania 35 angle with Elias. Noting on this the former franchise player stated the following,
“I’m officially moved else… I’m not a regular player. WWE is still my heart, I’m still part of the family, I still keep in touch with a lot of the folks, I try to do my best to teach and mentor and help when I can, but man, I’m 42. I’m getting to be…”
Moving forward, WrestleMania 36 context had to come as this is that one event he has never missed. This year it is even more special for John Cena as it will take place from his hometown of Tampa, Florida.
So he would love to be a key part of the show. It was also recently reported that he is willing to do something substantial, this year at the biggest event. The same was echoed through his statement as well,
“I know that we have a small large event called WrestleMania around the corner, that just so happens to be in Tampa, and that’s kind of where I live. So, I’ll be in the neighborhood, and Suicide Squad should be done, but it’s not like I call someone up and be like, ‘I want to be in WrestleMania.”
