Review & Twitter Reactions From This Week’s Smackdown Live: December 18, 2018 1

This episode of Smackdown started in a surprising way. But it has reminded us about the New Era in the WWE taken over by the McMahons. So Paige does not have her job on Smackdown as the general manager, anymore. It’s not fair to her as most of the fans think she was doing an incredible job. It is sort of confusing whether she stays on TV in some sort of other capacities.

The other surprise in the opening segment was the appearance was Vince McMahon. The audience did not expect him to come out at all on two back to back nights, at all. However, it is always good to have The Boss back on TV as pulls off goo ratings. He emphasized the fact that Asuka is the new Smackdown women’s champion.

So the spotlight remained on her through a championship match in the opening segment of Smackdown. Naomi came up with all the quick-fire moves from her arsenal but in the end, the champion looked strong. Charlotte and Becky Lynch did not have much to do on the show as they will have to wait until Royal Rumble to get a match against Ronda Rousey.

Gallows-Anderson and SAnitY were back on TV which was indeed a fresh thing for Smackdown. This should make the tag team bookings, interesting from now onwards. Plus, Rusev is continuing to build himself up as a strong babyface with loud promos, every week. This should give him the upper hand while challenging for the US Championship.

The other tag team matches on Smackdown did not have much impact on the storylines. But things were fresh as we did not see Miz and Mandy Rose as a team, previously. Furthermore, AJ Styles and Mustafa Ali teaming up in the main event was also a treat to the fans. Ali pinning the WWE Champion can set up bigger things for him in future.
