Babar Azam is the lynchpin for the Pakistan team across all the formats. He has credited his seniors and former captains Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmed for helping him to progress in his careers.

The white-ball captain Babar Azam, earlier, had the problem of converting his score into big numbers but he got rid of the issue while playing with senior teammates. He is now the leading scorer and No.1 T20I batsman in ICC ranking. Moreover, he is also among the Top 5 in Test and ODI ranking.

In the Instagram live session with veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik, Babar said that while playing with Malik and Sarfaraz he learnt a lot which helped him to become successful batsman.

“Earlier, I faced problems in converting 60s and 80s into [hundreds] but now you can see me scoring triple figures consistently. Players like you [Malik], Sarfaraz Ahmed had helped me out a lot and I try to learn every time I spend time [with] seniors,” Azam said as quoted by Ary Sports.

Babar Azam made the debut for the Pakistan team in 2015. He has, so far, played 26 Tests, 74 ODIs and 38 T20I, scoring 1850, 3359 and 1471 runs respectively. Although he has not much experience like Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, still he is compared to them. His batting techniques are now and then compared to the Indian captain. The 25-year-old was handed over the ODI captaincy last month while he was made the T20I captain last year after Sarfaraz Ahmed was dropped from the team.

Meanwhile, he will lead the team in the T20I series against England starting from 28 August. Before the T20I series, the two teams will play three-match Test series scheduled from 5 August. The venue for the first Test is Old Trafford but the second and third Tests will be played in Southampton, scheduled to start on August 13 and 21 respectively.
