The ankle injury suffered by Xavier Woods has now turned into a fatal one, as per the latest reports. In contract to the initial reports, the torn Achilles tendon could cost 9-12 months of his career.

WWE sent the superstars back to the USA from the ongoing Australian tour for further evaluation. The reports are out which brought bad news to the entertaining superstar.

Randy Orton leaving WWE?

WWE SmackDown roster was having a tour in Australia from this past weekend where Xavier Woods picked up the injury. The New Day was competing in a tag team match against the tag champs, The Revival on this past Monday Night.

Woods ruptured his ankle in a bad way as the referee gave the cross signal to the locker room indicating that Xavier Woods was in no condition to compete.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the severity of Woods’ injury. He informed that there are some athletes who missed almost one year for this type of tear in Achilles tendon. Considering this, he could be out of action for 9-12 months.

However, pro-wrestlers often recovers in a quicker way as there are chances that he would be healed before the given time limit. Here’s more from Meltzer, (courtesy ringsidenews.com)

“He’s having surgery for a torn Achilles. It’s bad. He’s gonna be out for nine months probably more. A torn Achilles is about a year recovery for an athlete, but I think a wrestler can come back a little quicker because wrestling is not about that like you know the real speed you need on the football field of the basketball court. So I think with a wrestler he could come back a little quicker. It’s not a common injury to wrestlers at all.”

There are instances where superstars came back within six months of time from torn Achilles tendon. WWE Hall of Famer Edge is an example of the same who tore the same part during the 2009 summer.

Doctors predicted he would be out for one year. But he was back in January 2010 to win that year’s Royal Rumble and headline Wrestlemania. So Xavier Woods has a lot to get inspired by this story.

Another good thing for Xavier Woods is that he won’t out of touch from the WWE Universe. For those who follow him on social media, he is a well-known gamer who has his own Youtube channel UpUpDownDown. He could be hosting a lot of tournaments during this injury timespan.
