Twitter Reactions From This Week’s Smackdown Live: January 22, 2019 1

Smackdown Live kicked off with the hottest star on the pro-wrestling industry Becky Lynch. She lit up the show with that promo hinting her position at the Wrestlemania 35 main event. Asuka is the Smackdown women’s champion but she did almost nothing ever since getting the title. The fun fact is that Becky Lynch still managed to keep title relevant just being the contender that points out the champion’s incapability, even more.

Naomi vs. Mandy Rose was a short matchup, as expected. It is crystal clear that WWE officials are considering the latter one as a big asset, going forward. So she is being protected, by all means, every week. Picking up a big win over the former Smackdown women’s champion was just a part of that process.

The Miz vs. Cesaro was a decent contest on Smackdown. But we really expected to see a high-flying stunt from Shane McMahon to end the segment. That did not happen as The Bar took control of the scene ganging up on the two babyfaces. But the finish seemed justified. Last week, Miz and McMahon gained momentums heading into Royal Rumble. Sheamus and Cesaro needed to backfire just to keep the balance same on both the sides.

The sudden insertion of Vince McMahon into the AJ Styles-Daniel Bryan feud was not meaningful, though. We expected some big announcement from him over Royal Rumble. But he barely got mic time on Smackdown as the two competitors continued blasting each other. It was just WWE’s way to hype up the segment and nothing else. Bryan standing tall again hints that he might be retaining at Rumble.

Samoa Joe picked up the big victory on Smackdown Live looking stronger for Royal Rumble. But the finish of the show witnessed Randy Orton’s return with a massive RKO. It was something unexpected that made the situation unpredictable. People would have never expected it which is why it came as an utter surprise. Meanwhile, how could I forget to mention the magic that Mysterio and Andrade brought on Smackdown, once more?

Overall, the final hypes for Royal Rumble on Smackdown were not bad at all. Most of the segments were pretty much good to raise the stakes high. Here are the Twitter reactions from the show took place in Wichita, Kansas.
