Although WWE is yet to officially confirm the Wrestlemania 36 match card, the marquee matches have already been confirmed by different outlets. As noted on multiple occasions, Roman Reigns was all set to feature in the main event of the show challenging for the Universal Championship against The Fiend Bray Wyatt. He would have to win the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match 2020 edition in order to earn the contender’s spot.

But a massive alteration has recently been made to the card. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship is no longer scheduled to at WrestleMania 36. It was also noted that John Cena vs. Elias has also been scrapped from the card. No new opponent was named for the 16-time world champion, for now.

This is what the source has to offer regarding the latest update,
“The way I had it listed the main event is no longer on the card.
A lot’s changed. The only two matches that I’ve written about that have changed and I was told that they were changed are Bray Wyatt & Roman Reigns and John Cena & Elias. I believe there are four or five matches that have been changed.”
This report led to the speculation that Goldberg will eventually end up winning the Universal Championship at Super Showdown. Then he would go ahead to face Roman Reigns in the main event of Wrestlemania 36. Reigns will secure his spot at the title match by winning the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match which is yet to be confirmed.

However, this plan is still not a concrete one considering that Meltzer added that the SmackDown side of the WrestleMania 36 match card is ‘completely up in the air’ as of this writing. It means there could be several changes in-store following Super Showdown.
Previously, WrestleVotes hinted that WWE was nurturing plans for the top four superstars (John Cena, Roman Reigns, Goldberg and The Fiend). So, there is a slight chance available as the creative may end up arranging Cena vs. Goldberg, dream match, as well.
