WWE News: A Big Heel-Turn Cancelled On Smackdown Due To McMahon Family’s Return 1

WWE Raw has been going through a rough phase as of late. It has been a complete disaster for the entire timespan that Baron Corbin was in-charge. TV ratings dropped to the least that ever could have imagined. Also, the absence of the franchise player of the company, Roman Reigns also affected the flagship program, a lot.

The McMahon family returned to address the situation on last week’s show. Vince, Stephanie, Shane McMahon, and Triple H were in the ring to confirm that they will take care of the show from now onwards. There will not be any middleman cum general manager’s spot available on the show. This would be applicable for Smackdown, too.

Speaking of this leads us to a big change that also took place on Smackdown Live. Shane McMahon removed Paige from the general manager spot in a surprising manner. This lady was doing a fantastic job on the blue brand but despite that, she had to go away. It was kind of a villainous act from the commissioner of the show.

A similar kind of change was about to take place for Shane McMahon in real as we move forward to 2019. But those plans have changed recently. A major reason behind the alteration in planning is the McMahon family’s return and put themselves back in the charge. Reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggested that a heel-turn was coming up for Shane-o-Mac.

It was about to happen in the month of January around Royal Rumble. This could have shaken things up, big-time en route to Wrestlemania. But for now, ‘plans for his heel turn have been completely dropped.’ This happened due to the McMahon family showing up on the programming and taking the control back.

Interestingly enough, heels like Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have also transformed into babyface figures following their return. They are likely to stay in the same way acting as star powers on the weekly programming, going forward. So the chances of Shane McMahon going back to his villainous persona was thrown out of the window.

The storyline for the anticipated heel-turn started from Survivor Series onwards. WWE Raw dominated SmackDown Live at the last ‘big-four’ PPV event this year despite Shane McMahon promising big for the blue brand. But we did not have a follow up in the storyline, going forward. Rather, The Miz entered in any angle to form a tag team with him.
