Wrestlemania matchups mostly see the prime babyfaces going up against the meanest heels of the roster. This brings the organic feel to the matchups that sell out the biggest event of the year. Fans always pick the popular superstars to come out as the winners which provide a feel-good environment.
This year, three superstars are on such favorites’ list. Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, and Kofi Kingston are those names who are all heading into Wrestlemania as the challengers. They will compete in separate championship matches from the two different brands. Making them the contenders was basically fans’ demand for this big occasion.
Becky Lynch will take on Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. Seth Rollins will challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship. From Smackdown, Daniel Bryan will defend the WWE Championship against the New Day member, Kofi Kingston.
There’s no doubt that WWE Universe wants to see each one of them walking out of Wrestlemania 35 with the respective titles they are competing for. But that might not be the case going by the history of Wrestlemania in the past. Additionally, Brad Sheperd declared the same on the latest edition of the Oh, You Didn’t Know! Podcast.
As per him, three of the babyfaces will not walk out of Wrestlemania 35 with the championships in hand,
“If people think that Seth Rollins, and Kofi Kingston, and Becky Lynch are all walking out of WrestleMania as champions, yeah… I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news. I see that as very, very low odds.”
Co-host of the podcast Jon Fisher added that the WWE creative will allow two superstars, maximum to go over with the fans at Wrestlemania. So while two of the challengers might get to hold the championship belts, the third one will have to remain disappointed. His or her big dream will get shattered at the MetLife Stadium in New York.
The prediction is that Kofi Kingston will be the name who should come up short. Both Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey might choose to leave the WWE once Wrestlemania 35 gets over. So it’s almost certain that they will drop their belts to the challengers. But WWE still plans to keep Daniel Bryan as a long-term heel. Hence, his title reign should continue even after the biggest event.
