Reports from a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggested the same. As per Dave Meltzer from the source, the women superstars may not have got the chance if Roman Reigns was present in the scene. Here’s what he has revealed, courtesy ringsidenews.com,
“Rousey vs. Flair, along with whatever would be the Universal title match involving Roman Reigns (who was eventually beating Brock Lesnar) would be the headliners.”
Now, it is certain that WWE depends on him more than anybody on the main roster. He is the franchise player of the company who has a lot to do including bringing new ideas. We know Roman Reigns is a backstage leader in the locker room who takes stands for the superstars. He wanted to bring a significant change in recent times addressing colleague’s pledge.
It’s no secret that WWE superstars have to go through a rigorous schedule all over the year. This is the only wrestling promotion in the world which does not have any break in the entire year’s schedule. The roster members have to travel around the USA, as well as tours of Europe, Asia, and South America, every year.
At some point, their bodies might want to give up. Hence Roman Reigns wanted to bring an off-season for them. While speaking to TalkSport’s Alex McCarthy revealed that off-season, he pointed out why this is much-needed. It will basically allow the performers to heal off the wounds and thereby reducing chances of injuries.
All sports played around the world have an off-season that stays for a month, at least unlike WWE. Roman Reigns wanted this time-off to be for a full quarter when it comes to their schedule. However, WWE officials can’t allow it to happen. They have the weekly TV deals with the USA Network that can’t be violated.
WWE could lose millions of dollars if they decide to give time-off to the superstars. So Roman Reigns is probably not going to being a solution to the problem despite raising it. There was a certain change in this year, though. WWE broadcasted RAW and SmackDown shows in a taped format during the Holiday season. This was the only time that the superstars had two weeks off just before 2019 started.
