WWE News: Two Monsters To Collide On Raw Following Superstar Shakeup
It was quite odd not seeing Samoa Joe during the Superstar Shakeup night. He is the mid-card champion over on Smackdown Live who was about to change his home-brand considering that WWE officials included him in the shifting process. This is why the counterpart champion from Raw i.e. Finn Balor moved to Smackdown, the very next night while Joe remained absent this whole time.
Well, there’s a big reason why WWE United States Champion Samoa Joe was not present at Superstar Shakeup. He is reportedly dealing with flu for the past few days. His condition was quite bad on Monday Night after which the officials decided to keep him out of the show at the very last moment. But at this point, he is still a Raw-bound superstar.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio hints that Samoa Joe is indeed heading to Monday Night Raw depending on some simple logic. During the Superstar Shake-Up, both brands’ mid-card singles champions switch spots in the RAW and SmackDown brands respectively. That norm would have been followed this year, too of Samoa Joe was good to go.
Being the United States Champion, he would have moved to the flagship show from Smackdown brand. On the other hand, current Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor would have moved to the blue brand. (which he did on this past Tuesday Night.) But one half of the process is still incomplete and should take place when the next episode of Monday Night Raw takes place on April 22nd.
Additionally, the source mentioned that WWE officials have already planned his opponent upon arriving on Raw. Samoa Joe will get into a feud against Braun Strowman with the former’s United States Championship at stake. The Monster among Men will compete for a mid-card title in his career for the first time since debuting on the main roster.
It will be quite the scene since The Samoan Submission Machine will be standing against him. You can only imagine what could happen if these two behemoths pounce on each other in a wrestling match. They have recently shared the ring in a brief segment on the post-Wrestlemania episode of Smackdown on April 9th. Now they are looking forward to locking horns on multiple occasions.
