The Wednesday night war has begun in an action-packed way between AEW and NXT. While AEW presented a decent show on their very first outing on the TNT Network, NXT went all-out to compete against them to come short. A couple of championship matches stole the show whereas a couple of solid returns were also there on the card. Former NXT Champions, Tommaso Ciampa and Finn Balor made their return to the show to shock the world.

Whereas Ciampa’s return was evident to happen from an injury, no one saw it coming that Finn Balor will also enter the NXT fray. But he did so confronting the current NXT Champions, Adam Cole and also announced that he is NXT, for now. With that, speculations are running rampant on whether he will be moving to the developmental territory, yet again leaving the main roster.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer gave an update on the current status of Finn Balor. He reported that the former NXT Champion has moved to the NXT brand, permanently. He will now be appearing on Wednesday nights only and not on the main roster shows. So we will not see him being a part of the WWE Draft that is happening on October 11th and 14th.

However, this will not alter the contract of the superstar who also possesses a demonic gimmick. He will reportedly continue to get paid as the main roster superstar while working a lighter schedule for NXT. This would be good for Finn Balor who will now be in a safe zone which he likes to call as his home. This will save him from the torturous booking on either Raw or Smackdown.

Plus, this will make the first-ever Universal Champion of the WWE become the highest-paid superstar in NXT. Meltzer also hinted that Finn Balor may be paid roughly four times more than an average NXT Superstar. He is not the first superstar to return to NXT from the main roster, though. Tyler Breeze and Fandango have done that to get utilized properly. Now Shinsuke Nakamura has also wished to do so, shortly as stated on Twitter. We’ll see if that happens in due course.
