WWE News: Vince McMahon Made Some Last-Minute Changes To Elimination Chamber
WWE hosted the Elimination Chamber PPV on February 17th at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. It was one of the special nights of the year where the steel chamber structure was back on WWE programming. It is that one night of the year when this cage returned to determine the fate of two championships in the WWE.
We had two two Elimination Chamber matches on that night. The first one was for the WWE Championship and the other one was for the newly revealed Women’s Tag Team Championships. Daniel Bryan was able to come out of the structure retaining his WWE title.
On the other hand, Sasha Banks and Bayley became the inaugural winners of the Women’s Tag Team Championships. They were the predicted name for a long time to win this particular match. WWE creative did not make any changes in this slot, as well as wiping out the chances of any sort of surprises.
But there were some major changes regarding this women’s tag team Elimination Chamber match at the backstage. As reported by cagesideseats.com, Vince McMahon had to come up with some last minute changes as the pay-per-view aired. He changed the match orders and thereby the original main event of the night.
The Women’s Tag Team Championships match inside the Elimination Chamber was about to close the night. But The Boss thought that it would not draw that much of reactions like a main-event match should do. So he replaced this one with the WWE Championship match also held inside the steel structure.
This was not the only change made to the women’s division match. Naomi and Carmella had to exit the match at the very beginning. They were one of the strongest teams and their early departure raised some eyebrows. As per the indications from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, their outside actions were the reason behind this.
Naomi was driving on the wrong side of a car in Detroit that led her husband Jimmy Uso to get arrested. Carmella was part of viral news where news broke out about his alleged relationship with Corey Graves. The WWE commentator’s wife accused him of cheating with the former women’s champion. So they had the bad effects while going into Elimination Chamber.
