Triple H was the main man behind reviving the WWE NXT brand over the past several years which grew its popularity. Apart from the mainstream wrestling fans, this third brand of the WWE had its own fanbase among the hardcore audience. The days of pleasing those fans are apparently over with Triple H being absent from the scene.
The Game has not been there on WWE NXT tapings over the past several months due to a cardiac incident. A new team is in-charge who gets instructions from Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard. Now, the brand has gotten rid of several names that were associated with Triple H in many ways. The latest round of cuts was observed, last night where some shocking names were let go from the company.
WWE NXT: Veteran Willam Regal And Road Dogg Released From Contract
An update from Fightful Select notes that it was stated, unanimously, by talent and staff familiar with the Performance Center and NXT, that the latest spree of releases was done directly to remove numerous Triple H hires from the company (the release of Cathy Corino aka Allison Danger is the only exception), who was hired back in October.
WWE removed many names from Triple H-led WWE NXT
This week’s releases were reportedly part of a huge overhaul as much of the names from the Triple H-era of WWE NXT have been let go. WWE had earlier indicated that talents won’t be included in these cuts, but then Danny Burch and Timothy Thatcher were also let go.
It appears that these superstars had been over with their talent duties for a long time. They had rather been helping out with coaching duties while away from the WWE NXT storylines. The same goes for another release that’s The Diamond Mine’s Hachiman (Hideki Suzuki), who was originally hired as a coach but then added to The Diamond Mine stable.
In more news, this week’s WWE NXT New Year’s Evil special saw Bron Breakker smashing through a large gold X sign during his entrance which was a symbol of moving on from the older NXT era. He then went to defeat Tommaso Ciampa to win the NXT Title in the main event and thereby usher in that new era. There was a feeling among some NXT officials may have not liked the spot but it was inserted anyway to be open about the upcoming change.
