A big edition of WWE Smackdown aired last night where legendary Trish Stratus made her presence felt in a talk-show hosted by Jerry Lawler. WWE also announced a big match to hype up the episode where the former Intercontinental Champion came back to action. Also, there was a solid main event featuring the WWE Champion on the show that took place at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

A video package opened Smackdown Live featuring Shane McMahon who let us knew that he won’t be on the show. He is working with his life coach to get ready for his next match. He also claimed Owens’ career will be over at Summerslam and then the announcer will announce with the mic that he is the better man.

Kevin Owens came out on Smackdown Live in the midst of huge cheers from the crowd. He fired up the audience hinting a potential Summerslam win against Shane McMahon. Drew McIntyre interrupted his promo informing that he will take on Owens in the opening contest of the show.
A referee ran out as the match was in progress on Smackdown. Drew blocked a Stunner and hit a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. He charged for a Claymore Kick but Owens shut him up with a Superkick. Owens hit a Pop-Up Powerbomb but Drew hit a Celtic Cross for a two-count. The fight continued as Owens hit a Stunner outside the ring and followed up with another one to get the win.
In a backstage segment of Smackdown Live, Dolph Ziggler announced that he will face The Miz at Summerslam. We also witnessed a promo from Aleister Black who will face Sami Zayn at Summerslam in a singles contest.

Back in the ring, a tag team match took place on Smackdown where Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss teamed up to take on Ember Moon and Bayley. The latter duo promised to get along together but failed as Nikki Cross sacrificed herself taking an Eclipse. Alexa Bliss attacked Moon from the back and hit the Twisted Bliss to win the match. After the match, Bayley hit a Bayley-to-belly Suplex on Moon.
WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler hosted a special hometown edition of The King’s Court on Smackdown. Lawler welcomed his guest Trish Stratus to the show who received an incredible pop from the crowd. As Jerry asked Trish to have one more match, Charlotte Flair appeared on the scene and insulted the legend before challenging in a match. Trish accepted confirming the dream match is happening at Summerslam.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Finn Balor was the next matchup on Smackdown where Ziggler hit a Fammesser on his opponent and went for the Sweet Chin Music. Balor countered with a Slingblade and stomped him to the chest. As he was about to jump off the top rope, the lights went out and The Fiend Bray Wyatt appeared in the ring to provide the distraction. He vanished soon as Ziggler caught Balor with a Superkick to pick up the win.
WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura competed in a non-title match on Smackdown in a rematch from Saturday’s Smackville event against Ali. The high-flier set him up for the splash when Nakamura moved out of the way. He went for the Kinshasa but Ali rolled him up. Nakamura hit a DDT this time and set Ali up for a second Kinshasa. This time Ali countered again with a roll-up to get the win.
AJ Styles vs. Kofi Kingston was the main event match of this week’s Smackdown Live where both men have their respective partners in the corner. The OCs took out Big E and New Day after which Kofi Kingston jumped off the ring to take them out. AJ gave a forearm on Kofi inside the ring as Big E took out Gallows-Anderson outside. Kofi then executed the Trouble in Paradise on AJ to pin him and get the victory.
After the match, we went backstage to see Roman Reigns waiting to issue a Summerslam challenge. A large steel structure almost fell on him from behind as he could barely escape. Someone literally tried to hurt him badly but we did not know who that was. Smackdown came to an end as Reigns re-grouped and tried to figure who could do that.
