Smackdown Live will follow up with the events that happened at Fastlane to start a buildup for Wrestlemania. The biggest story at this time seems the sudden heel-turn of Shane McMahon. He went berserk on the former tag team partner hinting a big angle to expand on the show. We expect the McMahon to reveal explanations for his actions at Fastlane.
No Holds Barred match confirmed for Wrestlemania
Also, there should be new rivalries heading into Wrestlemania over the championships present on Smackdown. New challengers should surface for the WWE Championship as well as the women’s championship. The Usos should also get new opponents heading into the biggest event as the champions, for the first time. All of these will be in-store when Smackdown airs tonight from the EJ Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.
As seen at WWE Fastlane, Shane McMahon turned into a villain beating up his tag team partner The Miz. Later the night, he even declined to make any comments on his actions. Well, we expect to hear some when Smackdown airs tonight. Basically, Shane McMahon has started to build a Wrestlemania angle that will culminate a match on April 7th. We will see whether that match gets official on tonight.
In the WWE Championship capacity, Kofi Kingston is a clear favorite to become the next challenger for Daniel Bryan. But Mr. McMahon will not allow the veteran to get an opportunity, that easily. This will earn more support from the WWE Universe towards the high-flyer that will actually be good for him. We will see how the storyline unfolds when Smackdown airs. McMahon himself is going to address the Kofi situation on the show.
Asuka has defended her Smackdown women’s championship successfully at Fastlane. Now she will be looking forward to receiving a new opponent heading into Wrestlemania. There are still some doubts on who could become her next challenger. There can be a returnee who might get named as the next contender. Or else, several current roster members can get involved to confirm a multi-woman title match.
The Usos also had a successful championship defense at Fastlane. This is the first time in their career that they will be entering the grandest stage as the tag team champions. Spoilers suggest that a dream match will be waiting for them at the biggest event of the year. None other than The Hardy Boyz will challenge them in a match that we never thought of seeing. This particular storyline might kick-off on tonight’s Smackdown.
As for tonight, there would be a huge eight man tag team match on Smackdown. The Hardy Boyz will team up with Black & Ricochet to take on The Bar, Rusev & Nakamura.
The United States Championship will be on the line as confirmed by WWE.com. Samoa Joe will defend it against the former champion,
“R-Truth will get a one-on-one opportunity to reclaim the title on SmackDown LIVE when he challenges Joe. Can Truth win back the star-spangled title and get back to making his childhood hero, John Cena, proud? Or will Samoa Joe make good on his promise to demolish anyone in his path?”
It should be a cakewalk victory for the new champion who is well on his road to Wrestlemania 35. With the mid-card title around the waist, Samoa Joe is looking forward to getting his first solo match at the biggest event of the year. So we expect him to stop at nothing and surely not for a name like R-Truth who’s here to put over new talents.
