Tonight marks the final episode of SmackDown before this Sunday’s special edition of Extreme Rules that is also being dubbed as the Horror Show. A number of big matches will go down at the PPV and that won’t happen without final buildups, tonight. All the scheduled matches from the blue brand are expected to get hypes.
The main event for tonight’s SmackDown is not related to Extreme Rules, though where the Intercontinental Championship will be on the line. AJ Styles will defend his belt for the second time against Matt Riddle.
An edition of A Moment of Bliss will be there with a mystery guest whereas Bray Wyatt will also return to host an episode of Firefly Funhouse when the show airs from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
A few weeks ago, NXT sensation Matt Riddle debuted on the SmackDown brand at the expense of AJ Styles’ celebration on the occasion of his very first Intercontinental Championship win. Not only he interrupted the celebration but a few minutes later, he also stood tall picking up a clean pinfall win against The Phenomenal One.
AJ Styles is still fuming over that incident who took out frustrations on Drew Gulak, a couple of weeks ago through a dominant title win. Moving forward, he’ll now have Matt Riddle standing on his path to derail him from the title reign. The originally rumored Extreme Rules PPV match has been inserted to SmackDown which should deliver a solid experience.
Sasha Banks and Bayley are literally running the women’s division getting past through every obstacle put against them. This past Monday, they’ve defeated Kairi Sane and Asuka for the women’s tag team championships. So their bragging will continue on SmackDown where Bayley had to deliver a message to her current challenger Nikki Cross. We can only hope the latter to do something extraordinary to gain some momentums on her favor.
In another segment announced from SmackDown Women’s Division, Alexa Bliss will be back with her talk-show. Her guest for this episode wasn’t disclosed keeping the curiosity high,
“Alexa Bliss will roll out the red carpet for a marquee guest on “A Moment of Bliss” this Friday night. The identity of the guest remains a mystery but promises to have the blue brand abuzz.
Who will Bliss reveal as the mystery guest for the much-anticipated episode of “A Moment of Bliss?”
Jeff Hardy has accepted the proposal sent by Sheamus via The Miz to make a Bar Fight official at Extreme Rules. For the past couple of weeks, the Celtic Warrior disrespected Hardy by appearing on the TV screen. As the Grudge Match inches closer, we expect him to show up, live to give us a preview of what to expect on Sunday.
Last week’s main event of SmackDown witnessed Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro decimating the New Day as the match got disqualified. They put the tag champs through tables indicating that could only be a setup for a TLC match for the tag titles at Extreme Rules. Further confirmation on the scenario will be made, tonight.
Also, we haven’t spotted either Braun Strowman or Bray Wyatt on SmackDown for the past couple of weeks as they gear up for a unique battle at Extreme Rules. Could they be appearing together at the same time to create a chaotic scene on the show or to give a sneak peek of the Swamp where their fight will go down? We’ll find out the answers when the go-home episode for Extreme Rules airs on FOX.
