Circumstances are not good at all regarding pro-wrestling since large gatherings aren’t allowed for a long time. WrestleMania 37 was confirmed to take place at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on March 28, 2021. But it may not happen, either for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic or the potential Stadium construction delay due to it.
WWE Wrestlemania 37 In Los Angeles To Be Affected By COVID-19 Pandemic
SoFi Stadium announced that the Grand Opening on the earlier scheduled date, July 25 and 26 was pushed back to a “future date in 2021.” Following this, WWE was forced to rethink its plans around WrestleMania 37.
As per reports from WrestleVotes, WWE has already begun researching a “plan b” for an alternative venue to host WrestleMania 37 in case they are unable to put on the show in the state of California. The report although noted that it’s too early to speculate on exact locations when it comes to determining alternate venues.
WWE Planning Huge Match For The Rock To Headline Wrestlemania 37
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti earlier confirmed that California government may not allow large events for until May 2021 to prevent the coronavirus spread which has to affect WrestleMania 37 schedule,
“It’s difficult to imagine us getting together in the thousands anytime soon,” said Garcetti at a coronavirus briefing. “We’ve got many, many miles to walk before we’re going to be back in those environments. … Large gatherings — such as concerts and sporting events — may not be approved in the city for at least one year.”
WrestleMania 36 was moved from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida amid COVID-19 outbreak, earlier this year. Recent reports are available mentioning that Tampa is being considered again for WrestleMania 38 in 2022.
The same source informed that with initial legwork being done, Tampa could be a host to WrestleMania 38 in 2022. Hosting a huge show like this brings a significant economic impact on the respective cities. Tampa Bay could be a lock a year after as WWE would consider them once more after missing the chance with WrestleMania 36.
In a survey released in 2019 by WWE, the below cities are favorites to host WrestleMania in future,
London, England; Chicago, Illinois; Jacksonville, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; Santa Clara, California; Houston, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Philadelphia, PA; Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Miami, Florida; Orlando, Florida; Tampa.
