Is WWE Ending The Brand Split Between Raw, Smackdown & NXT?

WWE has been distinctive to the three separate brands present under their wings which are Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. For the past several months, these brands didn’t mix along for some good measures which actually earned praise from the critics, fans, and even the show broadcasters. But another tough time may force WWE to end the brand split.

The company’s current situation isn’t quite good when it comes to TV viewerships especially at a time when they can’t go into live tours with the rosters.

Seeing the decline in TV ratings, Vince McMahon and co. might need to bring all of their superstars back into one pool, temporally. It might be the only option left to stop down ratings from tanking down. However, reports suggest WWE may not want to take the predicted route.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the possible actions to be taken by Vince McMahon to pull back the slumping of ratings. Both Raw and SmackDown averaged below 2 million viewers a week which means things are looking really bad. Just like earlier times, the option is there to remove the brand split and simply put Raw and SmackDown stars back together.

But the source emphasized that doesn’t appear to be the plan, this time around.

“Are we gonna have the brands merge? I don’t think they are this time. That’s what Vince would normally do is merge the brands. We’ve seen it time after time. Are there gonna be heads rolling?” (courtesy ringsidenews.com)

It should be noted that The Wild Card Rule was introduced in 2019 that allowed superstars to travel between brands but in turn, it completely left the Superstar Shakeup to be a joke. Later, WWE’s move to Fox brought back the idea of Draft and totally nixed that idea. Except for the Survivor Series buildup, WWE has kept superstars exclusive to their respective brands since October 2019.

Vince McMahon might have to come up with different ideas, at this point to try and to overcome the tough times. His genius mind could surely find out an alternative to bring up viewership.

The viewership is expected to be up when live fans would be allowed to make their presence felt on the shows. But that’s not going to happen, right away.
