WWE Smackdown Live Full Results: October 17th, 2017

We witnessed the initial buildups for the Survivor Series PPV on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live. A rematch from Hell in a Cell between Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode was already announced for the show. Plus, the WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal made his return. Here’s what went down at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.

Smackdown was kicked off by the hometown hero, Daniel Bryan who got a massive reaction from the crowd. In the midst of all the chants, the GM plugged in for the in-store segments of the show including a six women tag team match, Jinder Mahal issuing a challenge and a rematch from Hell in a Cell.

Speaking of the bygone PPV led him to Sami Zayn’s disgustful actions. Zayn and Kevin Owens came down to the ring and started to taunt Bryan for retiring from in-ring competition and turning into a ‘housewife’. An irate Bryan left the ring to find a couple of guys who can punch in the face of the duos.

A six-woman tag team action took place next from the women’s division. Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Naomi teamed up against the team of Natalya, Lana, and Tamina with Carmella standing at the ringside area. The babyface team picked up the win via Charlotte’s figure eight submission move to Lana.

Following the match, Nattie went to attack Charlotte with a chair, but she retaliated and delivered a big boot. She went to hit the champion with the chair, but Natalya decided to escape through the crowd.

A segment of Fashion Police was aired with the Ascension present in it. In the rematch between Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode, Ziggler picked up the win via dirty tricks. He pulled the tights of Roode to get the win and cut a heel promo after the match.

Baron Corbin was scheduled for a match against Sin Cara on Smackdown. Before the match, the US Champion intended to make it a title match but did not do it. Cara took control of the match by hitting Corbin with some offensive moves. He hit a plancha on the floor to the champion to give him a count out win.

Jinder Mahal issued a challenge to Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series in a Champion vs Champion match. As he was cutting a heel promo, AJ Styles interrupted and wanted an opportunity to the WWE title. As Jinder blasted him with nasty words, Styles started hitting him with some quick moves. Jinder was sent away from the ring with a Pele Kick.

In the main event, Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura took on the team of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Via Owens’ distraction, Zayn was able to hit Orton with a low blow and then connect with the Helluva Kick to get the pinfall win. Following the match, they had a confrontation with Daniel Bryan who closed the show by informing that Shane McMahon will return next week.

WWE News: Update on Hell In A Cell 2017 Championship Changes

All the championships available from the Smackdown brand were on the line at the bygone Hell in a Cell PPV. The first one was defended inside the unforgiving steel structure for the first-time ever and witnessed a shocking outcome.

We thought that the reigning champs would retain to close the rivalry against The Usos once and for all. But, the latter duo turned out to be the winner and now have become a five-time tag team champions in the WWE.

The match was a brutal one with some mark-out moments which was a perfect way to open a PPV. In the end, the absence of veteran Kofi could felt, as Big E was put down via a top rope splash. The move was repeated on Woods with a steel chair on him that earned The Usos a pinfall win.

In the second title match of the night, the inclusion of Baron Corbin turned out to be the deciding factor for the champion, AJ Styles. He had his opponent down with a springboard forearm off the top rope.

But, Baron Corbin came from behind to shove the champion off the ring and got the pinfall on Dillinger. It is the first championship that the Lone Wolf has picked up in his WWE career. However, he never pinned the champion to earn it.

The Smackdown Women’s championship match between Natalya and Charlotte Flair was next, as these two recreated their long-term feud. The heel champion established her legacy more in this match by working on the injured knee of Charlotte.

She brought in a chair during the match and started hitting Flair with it. It led to a disqualification. Although the match fell short of expectations, it was a good way to put over the heel efforts from the Queen of Harts who retained by DQ.

The WWE Championship was the last one to be defended, and yet again Jinder pulled off a shocker by pinning the Artist, clean. The Singh brothers got ejected from ringside for interfering.

Later, The Kinshasa was delivered by Nakamura, but Jinder put his feet on the rope to avoid the pinfall. He also tried to escape through the crowd, but Nakamura brought him to the ring, again. It did not do any favour since the champion connected with his pendant move, Khallas on his opponent to retain the championship. Overall, two titles changed hands whereas two got retained at the Hell in a Cell PPV.

WWE: Twitter Reactions to Hell In A Cell PPV 2017

The start of the Hell in a Cell 2017 edition was great by virtue of the tag team championship match inside the steel structure. A tag team tornado stipulation was inserted into it to make the match even more interesting where all the four men involved were able to compete, simultaneously.

It made the tag match between the two veteran teams to pull out all the stops and took full advantage with weapons in hand. There were several mark-out moments during the contest after which the Usos emerged as the winner and five-time tag champs in the WWE.

But, going forward, the show fell flat to a great extent. The match planning for Rusev and Randy Orton was bad. Despite these two being the veteran workers, they failed to deliver an exciting match. The same can be said with Ziggler vs Roode which saw an end via a quick roll-up.

The Women’s title match was also a major letdown with a DQ finish. At one point, Charlotte even forgot to sell the right injured leg which was indeed a lame effort by The Queen. Jinder and Nakamura brought back the pace into the PPV to some extent, as the champion thrillingly retained his title.

All the fuels were reserved for the main event bout between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens. A fight at the top of the Cell structure was indeed worth a watch. In the end, Sami Zayn showed up turning into a heel and costing Shane the matchup which was a major move from the creative. He is expected to get a huge push with it, going forward. Meanwhile, here is the twitter reactions from the Hell in a Cell 2017 PPV:

WWE Rumor: Charlotte Flair To Win The Smackdown Women’s Championship

One of the bitter rivalries in the world of sports entertainment will be culminated, once again on this upcoming edition of Hell in a Cell PPV. It will be one of the Flairs against one of the Harts for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Natalya Neidhart will be defending her title against the face of the Women’s Revolution in the WWE, Charlotte Flair.

In case you don’t know, history will be made on that night between these two ladies. Both of them squared off inside the ring for the NXT Women’s, WWE Divas, Raw Women’s and now for the Smackdown Women’s title. It means they will be the first pair to compete in all the prime women championships present in the WWE.

Previously, in all of their bouts, The Queen of the WWE emerged as the victorious one considering she was to establish her legacy as the reigning champion. On the other hand, being the veteran performer, Natalya digested several losses to put over the newer member of the female roster.

Now, The Canadian female star has become the champion after a long time at the Summerslam PPV. Heading into the title defence match at Hell in a Cell, she is having all the momentums by her side. We thought that it might have been a hint of her retaining the title in the match which will finally give her a victory against Charlotte Flair in a title match.

But, if the reports of Wrestling Observer Newsletter is to be believed then, Charlotte Flair will emerge as the winner, once again. Nattie is considered to be one of the best in-ring competitors that the women’s division has ever seen. But, her time as the reigning champion is up considering her age. So, she should not have a long title run.

So, this is the reason why Charlotte is the favourite one to win the championship bout. Plus, according to the source, the person who picks up the momentum before the title match jobs at the PPV match. So, in that logic too, Natalya would lose her title since she made Charlotte tap out on the past episode of Smackdown Live.
This would be Charlotte’s fifth title win on the main roster. The current thinking is that she will defend her title against Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania.

WWE News: Smackdown Women’s Champion Bragged Prior To Hell In A Cell Title Match

The WWE fans are well aware of the fact that the family perspective of the current Smackdown Women’s Champion Natalya. She belongs to the great Hart Dungeon of Canada and often being referred to a wrestling royalty. This is due to her mother being Ellie, the daughter of Stu Hart, and her father is Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. Plus, Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart is her uncle.

The multiple time champion is in the WWE for over a decade now. She has been a loyal employee to the brand and hence always been considered as one of the most veteran players in this business. In case you follow the Total Divas show, you should know how much respect the other female superstars do have for her.

Tonight, she is going to defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship at the Hell in a Cell PPV. None other than The Queen of the Women’s Division, Charlotte Flair will be her opponent. By winning a number one contender’s match on Smackdown Live, the long-term rivalry will be renewed on the blue brand of the WWE.

As pointed out earlier, this will be historical match considering these two superstars will lock horns for all kinds of prime women’s championships past or present in the company. This time, they will be fighting over the title present on the blue brand.

Besides this, Natalya, herself, will have one more accolade added to her achievements. By competing in this match, he will be the female superstar in the WWE to compete in more PPV matches than anybody else on the roster. Previously, the record was possessed by the WWE Hall of Famer and perhaps the greatest female superstar of all time, Trish Stratus.

During an interview with, Nattie bragged about this fact with the quotes,
“It’s a huge match. Charlotte and I have a storied history. This Sunday, we’re going to be making history by being the first women in WWE to be competing for four different championships. No other women in the company have ever done this. We’ve competed for the NXT Women’s Championship, the Diva’s Championship, the RAW Women’s Championship and now the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship. At ‘Hell in a Cell,’ I will actually beat Trish Stratus’ record for having the most pay-per-view matches of any women in WWE history.”

This indicates the illustrious career that Natalya had in the WWE for over a decade. Heading into the PPV, she is not the favourite one to retain the title. This might also be the last time that she is holding the title considering her age. But, that does not take away the contributions that she made to the WWE female locker room, over the years.

WWE Hell In A Cell 2017 Match Card, Preview And Prediction

Tomorrow night will mark the return of the infamous steel structure known as the Hell in a Cell in the WWE. This is going to be the ninth event under the Hell in a Cell PPV chronology. All the championships present on the Smackdown brand will be on the line whereas the main event will feature Kevin Owens against the commissioner of the brand, Shane McMahon.

This will be the first time that the blue brand will be hosting the PPV. The show will be hosted by the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The show is an exclusive one to the WWE Network which is why no live telecast will be available on Indian television. The only way to catch the live streaming is to subscribe to the WWE Network.

Check out the full match card of the evening with predictions:

Dolph Ziggler vs. Bobby Roode
Prediction: This is going to be the first-ever PPV match for Bobby Roode after coming to the man roster. So, it’s almost certain that he would pick up the victory over Ziggler to solidify his spot. The show-off has taken his tantrums to an unbearable level and that has to stop with this match as his contract is set to expire, as well.

Rusev vs. Randy Orton
Prediction: Randy Orton has all the momentums by his side as seen on Smackdown Live. But, as per the theory book, this is a set up to digest a loss. He has nothing to prove whereas Rusev has to pick up the win to earn the respect back as a heel. So, the Bulgarian Brute is the favorite one to come out as the winner.

AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin (United States Championship match)
Prediction: Baron Corbin does not have any sort of momentums on his side and suffered multiple insults on Smackdown. This suggests that he might not be done with the backstage heat that is carrying on prior to Summerslam. So, AJ Styles will benefit from that and will retain the championship.

The New Day vs. The Usos (Smackdown tag team championship match inside Hell in a Cell)
Prediction: This will be for the first-time ever that the tag team title will be on the line inside the Hell in a Cell structure. These two veteran teams will tear each other apart delivering yet another blockbuster match. This will also conclude their stretched rivalry in which the champions will retain.

Natalya vs. Charlotte Flair (Smackdown Women’s Championship match)
Prediction: As per the happening on the recent shows, Natalya is literally dominating the women’s division and also made her challenger tap out this week. This would make Charlotte desperate to claim her throne back as the title-holder. Nattie cannot expect a long title run at this age. So, we will see a new champion crowning.

Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE Championship match)
Prediction: Jinder Mahal is scheduled to appear in India, next week with the Singh Brothers. This solidifies the fact that he will be coming with his title intact on his shoulder. If Nakamura does win at Hell in a Cell then it will be a set up for the rematch in India in December. But, the majority of chances are, Jinder will retain via distractions thrown by his partners-in-crime.

Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens (Hell in a Cell match)
Prediction: Being a Falls Count Anywhere match, we can expect more than one mark-out moments during the contest. The fight will be taken to the backstage area, at some point. Plus, a number of swerves are expected including Stephanie McMahon or Sami Zayn’s involvement. The latter one is expected to turn into a heel costing the commissioner the matchup. Owens is almost confirmed to win the main event bout via some sort of interferences.

WWE News: Charlotte Flair & Natalya Will Make History At Hell In A Cell

This Sunday, we will witness the Hell in a Cell PPV as part of a brand-exclusive event. The Smackdown brand will be hosting the show at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Amongst all the other championships, the Women’s one will also be on the line. The reigning champ, Natalya will be defending his crown against her long-term rival, Charlotte Flair.

The Queen of the WWE was away from the televised episodes for quite a long time. She returned three weeks ago demanding a title opportunity against The Queen of Harts. A number one contender’s match was announced where Naomi, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Tamina participated. The genetically superior athlete emerged victorious to earn the right to face the title-holder.

With the match officially getting confirmed, both Charlotte and Natalya are all set to create a record in the history of the company. Once the bell rings during the Hell in a Cell PPV for this match, they will be part of all four types women’s championship singles matches in the WWE.

They have been part of NXT Women’s title, WWE Divas title, Raw Women’s title, previously. The only championship match left was the newly added Smackdown Women’s one. That too will be fulfilled once they compete for the title in the PPV. Twitter user Boris disclosed the exciting stat.

The first time these two faced each other was in 2014 for the vacant NXT Women’s Championship. Charlotte was crowned the NXT Women’s champion with his father standing by her side.

In 2016 Roadblock PPV, these two again battled for the WWE Divas Championship in March. Later, following Wrestlemania 32, they were part of the Raw Women’s Championship match at Extreme Rules and Payback PPV. This was a reincarnation of the Flair vs Hart rivalry in the pro-wrestling business.

Since Charlotte was establishing her legacy as an emerging star in the company, she always came up with a win over Natalya, till date. The history might change, this time around as the champion has all the momentums by her side whereas The Queen suffered a submission lost, this past week’s Smackdown Live.

WWE News: Huge Planning for Smackdown Women’s Championship

For the entire post-Wrestlemania season, the Smackdown Women’s division was run by Naomi. She won the title back at the biggest show of them all in her hometown of Orlando, Florida.

Following the win, she had a dominant run with the title until she suffered a backstage heat just before the Summerslam PPV.

It was then when the creative team decided to keep the title off from her. So, she had a match against Natalya at the Summerslam PPV to come up losing. Not only she lost the match but also lost it badly without the needed resistance. It might have confirmed the backstage heat.

The feud between Natalya and Naomi was over in the Sin City edition of Smackdown Live. After that, Charlotte Flair got involved into the picture by winning a fatal-four-way number one contender’s match. She returned to the show after a hiatus of more than a month and went straight to get inserted into the title picture.

It earned her the rights to challenge Natalya for the title at the Hell in a Cell PPV. It will be the very first-time that she will compete in a PPV Championship match since coming to the blue brand, last April. On that night, she will have the chance to be the first woman to hold Raw, Smackdown and NXT Women Championships.

Apparently, the chances of Charlotte winning the Smackdown women’s title is pretty high. As reported by, The Queen is all set to reclaim her throne at the top of the WWE food chain. It will ensure her a match against Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania 34.

It is that one match which is up on the rumor mill for a long time, now. It might come to fruition, finally with the title being held by Charlotte on the blue brand.

The previous planning was to keep Naomi the champion for the rest of the year so that the glowing championship belt could be put on sale. The producers of the same, Mattel Inc., wanted a time of 10 months to get those delivered after which the plan got scrapped, and Nattie became the new champion. The chances are high that she loses it at Hell in a Cell PPV.

WWE: What Transpired Once Smackdown Live Went Off The Air: October 3, 2017

This week’s Smackdown was kicked off with another tribute to the Las Vegas terror victims. It was for the second straight day that we had seen Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon standing side by side to lead the roster while remaining silence in honour of those who lost their precious lives during the mass shooting incident.

On Monday, it was the Raw roster who paid tribute, whereas, last night, it was the Smackdown roster who did the same.

The show went off the air with Kevin Owens picking up a huge momentum heading into the Hell in a Cell matchup. It was supposed that Shane McMahon is anxious to get his hands on the heel one and get the revenge for his father’s assault. But, the cunning Owens capitalised playing pure mind games on the commissioner.

Another one who got the upper-hand on Smackdown Live was the Smackdown Women’s Champion, Natalya who picked up a dominant win over her challenger on this upcoming Sunday. They had a tag team match where Nattie locked in the sharpshooter on Charlotte to make her tap out.

Needless to say, this was a rare occasion where The Queen of the WWE was forced to tap out which portrayed her as a weaker one. Following the main show of Smackdown Live, the duo of Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair gave an interview on the fallout show.

As per their claim, this loss will not have any effect on the upcoming PPV championship match. The Queen is on her way to reclaiming the lost throne as the champion and will certainly to do her so. However, the problem being a lost momentum, and the champion being so dominant, she might not be able to do so.

In the other segment, Tye Dillinger spoke on the Smackdown fallout segment stating that he picked up the win on United States championship challenger, Baron Corbin. So, technically, he should be inserted into the championship match at Hell in a Cell. We have to wait till Sunday to see whether the match gets converted into a triple threat or not.

Plus, a huge tag team action was in store following the show where AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura & Randy Orton team up against Rusev, Baron Corbin, and Jinder Mahal. Orton connected with an RKO to pick up the win and send the crowd home, happily.

WWE: Smackdown Live Full Results: October 3, 2017

This edition of Smackdown Live marked the last episode before we get to the Hell in a Cell PPV, this Sunday. A major buildup got created for the exciting night headlined by the matchup between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens. Check out how the other storyline angles were also heated up on the night hosted by the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

Smackdown Live kicked off with another tribute to the Las Vegas victims. Renee Young then had an interview segment with Shinsuke Nakamura inside the ring which was interrupted by Jinder Mahal. The champion and Singh Brothers attacked Nakamura, right away. Jinder hit the Khallas to stand tall.

Charlotte and Becky Lynch teamed up to take on the team of Natalya and Carmella. The latter one distracted by hitting Becky with her MITB briefcase. Charlotte got locked in into the Sharpshooter by Natalya, after this and was forced to tap out.

Randy Orton got a singled match against Aiden English after last week’s altercations. Rusev was standing at the ringside and tried to provide a distraction, but Orton delivered a mind-boggling RKO in mid-air on English to pick up the win.

The New Day and The Usos had a confrontation to hype up their upcoming match inside Hell in a Cell. Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler had yet another face-off in which the latter one promised to do a special entrance at the upcoming PPV.

Before the segment, Roode pinned Mike Kanellis in a total squash match by a Glorious DDT. Tye Dillinger defeated Baron Corbin in a singles matchup with a sudden roll-up. After the match, AJ Styles cut a promo on his title match against Corbin.

The final segment featured Shane McMahon who informed the Hell in a Cell match against Kevin Owens will be a falls count anywhere match. The Smackdown commissioner called out Owens for multiple times before he finally came out through the crowd and refused to get into the ring.

It forced Shane to chase Owens through the crowd. The heel one took full advantage and attacked Shane from behind by putting him through a table. A vicious assault continued for Owens as he laid down Shane McMahon with a pop-up power-bomb before leaving the ring.
