WWE News: Huge Match Planned For The Rock At Wrestlemania 35

Wrestlemania 35 setup could face a big problem in the absence of WWE’s marquee superstars. Roman Reigns is out of the WWE programming for an indefinite amount of time. He is fighting the terrible disease of Leukemia and has to go through a long treatment process. So the franchise player of the WWE will not be able to perform at the biggest stage of them all.

Roman Reigns to return at Tribute to the Troops?

Another reliable player will also miss Wrestlemania 35 whose name is Triple H. The COO of the company has always been a trusted player of the WWE to deliver a marquee match. But a torn pectoral muscle might not allow him to compete at the next edition from New York. Accordingly, WWE officials cannot include him into any storyline process to culminate a match.

So who could be the proper replacement for these two at Wrestlemania? Reports are out claiming that The Rock might return to occupy this slot. WWE officials are hell-bent to bring the former franchise player for another main event of Wrestlemania. Only this comeback could make up the combined absence of Triple H and Roman Reigns.

As per the reports of The Dirty Sheets, officials are planning to involve The Rock in a Universal Championship match. This means a rematch from Summerslam 2002 could be in the works against Brock Lesnar. It is almost certain that the current champion will drop his title setting up another contest between these two. “According to the Dirty Sheets, WWE officials want The Rock to defeat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35 and then do the rematch in April at the Saudi Arabia show. If WWE is unable to secure The Rock, then it’s going to be Braun Strowman defeating Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.”

Braun Strowman was the original choice to win the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel PPV event. But his negative backstage attitude might have pushed the current planning for him. So in case, The Rock chooses not to work at Wrestlemania, the Monster among Men could receive his crowning moment at the biggest event of the year.

The Rock was in a main event of Wrestlemania, six years ago at the same venue of MetLife Stadium in New York. He is definitely willing to come back for another such match. But his Hollywood commitments could turn out to be the biggest bar for his appearance. Otherwise, putting the two-part timers in the main event of the show is the best possible option from a WWE perspective.

WWE News: Renee Young Revealed Reaction From Saudi Arabia Fans For Women Superstars

Renee Young has become a trailblazer in the WWE women’s division. She is not a female wrestler in the biggest pro-wrestling promotion of the world. Yet we can barely think of a show without her fresh presence. Ever since joining the WWE broadcasting, she changed the game. WWE also allowed her to break down the barriers over the course of the past few years.

Must read: How Dean Ambrose got the attention of Renee Young?

One such thing happened at the Crown Jewel PPV event. The show hosted in the Saudi Arabia country failed to earn any positive reaction, whatsoever. From the get-go of the event, there were controversies around the event due to the Jamal Khashoggi controversy. But the show finally happened without much critical acclamation.

But Renee Young stood out once again being an exception. She was present at the commentary booth as a full-time creating history. This was the first time ever that a female announcer called things out from a middle-east country for an entire night. Rumors about her presence at Saudi Arabia were out but WWE never confirmed the fact to avoid any controversy, perhaps.

When the show aired from Saudi Arabia, we did find out her alongside Michael Cole and Corey Graves. Allowing Renee Young in the commentary panel clarified that the mindset of the fans is changing in the desert country. The traditions of keeping women away from sports and entertainment are gradually getting away.

Renee Young herself discussed the same in an interview with BBC Radio. The hosts asked her about the experience she had in Saudi Arabia. She confirmed to get a warm welcome from the fans. The female ones were eager to see the women superstars in WWE Live Event in future. It ensured that there are chances to see women performing in the country in near future.

Here are the quotes from Renee Young, (courtesy

“One thing I will say that was very cool about that — as well as being a woman welcomed into Saudi Arabia, to step into the announce booth and be part of the broadcast — is how many men, women, children coming up to me, knowing that this was a big moment of change and that there is a demand and need for women (Superstars) to be performing in Saudi Arabia. So (the Saudi people) are asking for it, certainly.”

WWE Raw superstar and Renee’s husband Dean Ambrose accompanied Renee Young to the show. The hope is that WWE would certainly include women superstars in a Saudi Arabia show, sooner. WWE has signed a deal to host 10 shows like Crown Jewel and Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia in the next few years. So it is almost evident a revolutionary change is coming at the earliest.

Egypt “unlucky” according to coach Cuper

Volgograd (Russia), June 26: Egypt coach Hector Cuper said that his team was unlucky in their third defeat of the World Cup group stage after losing 2-1 to Saudi Arabia.

“Our strategy worked well and we created many good chances on the counter-attacks. We had a very good first half in which we took the lead. We were just unlucky,” Cuper said on Monday, reports Xinhua news agency.

“I think we played well but the results didn’t go our way. We lost all three matches but we lost two games with goals conceded after 90 minutes. That’s too bad,” he added.

“I’m sad and disappointed, but at the World Cup we have to face the world’s top teams and even they concede goals too,” the coach added.

In previous games, Egypt had lost to Uruguay and hosts Russia 1-0 and 3-1 respectively.

World Cup: Saudi Arabia pip Egypt in final Group tie

Volgograd (Russia), June 26: Saudi Arabia ended their FIFA World Cup 2018 campaign on a winning note, edging past Egypt 2-1 in their final Group A game at the Volgograd Arena here on Monday.

With the dead rubber inching towards a 1-1 draw, Saudi’s Salem Al Dawsari struck in the additional injury time to help his side notch up their only win in the tournament.

Earlier, Mohamed Salah found the back of the net in the 22nd minute to hand Egypt an early lead in the game.

However, Saudi’s Salman Al Faraj equalised, scoring minutes before the half-time.

The game saw Egypt keeper Essam El Hadary make World Cup history when he became the oldest player to appear in the final stage aged 45 years and five months.

Hadary saved a first half penalty from Fahad Almuwallad and produced several excellent stops in the second half but could do nothing to prevent Alburayk’s late finish.

Having lost both of their opening two clashes, Saudi Arabia and Egypt’s World Cup journey ended on Monday.

Uruguay beat Saudi Arabia to enter pre-quarters

Rostov-on-Don (Russia), June 21: Veteran striker Luis Suarez marked his 100th international with a winning goal as Uruguay defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in a Group A clash here on Wednesday to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup.

Suarez’s 23rd-minute strike from close range decided the match as Saudi Arabia lost their second consecutive loss and joined Egypt in getting eliminated. Following the win, Uruguay and hosts Russia have entered the second round from the Group A.

Uruguay and Saudi Arabia had contrasting fortunes in their opening matches. While Uruguay defeated Egypt 1-0, the Asian outfit suffered a morale-shattering 0-5 defeat to hosts Russia.

For Saudi Arabia, the match at the Rostov Arena here was their first in World Cup history against a South American side. And they put up an improved performance, though having to bear another loss.

The match had a barren first 20 minutes, lacking real intensity and potential scoring chances but the South Americans clearly showed that they are here to dominate.

Uruguay got ahead in the 23rd minute. Goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais came off his line, stretched out an arm to punch clear a corner from Carlos Sanchez from the left and missed it completely. It dropped kindly for FC Barcelona striker Suarez at the far post and he made no mistake with a left-foot tap-in as he scored his 52nd international goal.

After the goal, the match intensified with both teams, especially Saudi Arabia showing good football, at both ends.

Three minutes after conceding the lead, Hattan Bahbir cut in from the right and shot with his left foot, forcing Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera to tip over his own cross-bar.

Couple of minutes later, Bahbir again got an opportunity to pull the Saudis level. Uruguay defender Diego Godin misjudged the flight of a cross from the left and the ball dropped for Bahbir, whose stab inside the Uruguay penalty area sent the ball over the cross-bar.

Bahbir continued to impress but his finishing and those of his teammates, lacked precision as Uruguay held a 1-0 lead at half-time.

After the break, Uruguay went about their business of controlling play, with their players keeping the ball possession and ping the ball about in midfield before getting forward, even as Saudi Arabia lacked the firepower. The Uruguayan midfield trio of Rodrigo Bentancur, Sanchez and Matias Vecino dominated.

Uruguay head coach Oscar Tabarez felt that the pace of the game was slowing down and decided to infuse fresh energy in the form of midfielder Lucas Torreira and left-back Diego Laxalt, who substituted for Vecino and Cristian Rodriguez respectively.

The first chance in the second half fell to Uruguay in the 62nd minute when Martin Cacares played a long ball from way behind for Edinson Cavani, who floated in a cross towards Carlos Sanchez at the far post. The header from Sanchez, however, sailed high over the cross-bar.

Later, Saudi Arabia showed some desperation but they lacked that final pass to make a decisive move inside the Uruguay box. Inexperience was clearly visible from the way the Saudis played. And the equaliser didn’t arrive, sending Uruguay to the Round-of-16.

Germany beat Saudi Arabia in World Cup warm-up

Leverkusen (Germany), June 9: Timo Werner came up with a goal and an assist to help Germany edge past a resilient Saudi Arabia 2-1 in an international friendly here.

Joachim Loew’s men secured a victory in the last test game ahead of the FIFA World Cup on Friday as a goal from Werner and an own-goal from Omar Hawsawi were enough secure a 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia, reports Xinhua news agency.

The Germans grabbed a perfect start into the encounter as Joshua Kimmich’s long ball found Marco Reus inside the box before Timo Werner hammered home from close range with eight minutes into the game.

The reigning World Cup champions kept their momentum and pressed the visitors from Saudi Arabia into defence for most of the half.

However, the hosts had to wait until the 43rd minute before their efforts paid off as Werner’s square pass, which was deflected by Omar Hawsawi into his own net, made it 2-0 on the scoreboards.

After the restart, things changed as Germany struggled to keep the pressure up meanwhile Saudi Arabia picked up the pace, as Salem Al-Dawsari pulled wide from promising position in the 61st minute.

The visitors kept it bowling and reduced the arrears in the 85th minute. Germany’s goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen denied Mohammad Al-Sahlawi a penalty but Taisir Al-Jassim took on the rebound and slotted home.

Germany wobbled and were lucky as Al-Sahlawi squandered a golden chance to restore parity from very close in the dying minutes of the clash.

“We played a good first half but our performance significantly decreased after the half time. We allowed too many chances and wasted many promising opportunities. We should have scored more goals,” Germany head coach Loew said.

Germany want to defend their FIFA World Cup title in Russia this summer. They will clash with Mexico for their first group stage match in Group F on June 17 in Moscow. Saudi Arabia will face hosts Russia in the World Cup opener three days earlier.

Italy beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in pre-World Cup friendly

Rome, May 29: Italy, who failed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia, struggled to defeat Saudi Arabia, who played their first friendly in preparation for the World Cup in Russia.

At the Kybun Park Stadium in St. Gallen on Monday, Italy were 2-0 ahead thanks to goals from Mario Balotelli and Andrea Belotti, but Saudi Arabia, which is in Group A of the World Cup was impressive with a goal by Yahya Al-Shehri and also had chances to draw, reports Efe.

After five games without wins and still far from satisfactory, Italy found themselves back with a win against a brave Arabia, who will continue their preparation before their World Cup debut in friendly matches against Peru, on June 3 and Germany on June 8.

Despite the fact that Italy have four world titles to their name and a long soccer tradition, this friendly was an important test, especially for Saudi Arabia in view of their participation in the Russian World Cup, an event for which the Azzurri failed to qualify.

Saudi sports stadiums to open doors to women

Riyadh, Jan9: Women in Saudi Arabia will be allowed to enter sports stadiums to watch football matches for the first time on Friday, the government announced on Monday.

“The first match that women will be allowed to watch will be Al Ahli versus Al Batin on January 12,” the Ministry of Information said. It added that women would also be able to attend a second match on next day and a third match on January 18, the National newspaper reported.

The first match will be held in the capital, the second in Jeddah on the Red Sea and the third in the eastern city of Dammam.

The Saudi government announced in October last year that women in 2018 will be allowed to attend sporting matches in national stadiums, from which they were previously banned.

Three previously male-only venues — King Fahd International Stadium, King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium — will be opened to women and families.

Easing restrictions on women, including the lifting of a driving ban, which is set to go into effect in June, is part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 to overhaul the country’s oil-dependent economy and shed the Kingdom’s ultra-conservative image.

“Absolutely, yes,” Graf said when asked if Williams can break Court’s record. “A lot of it is determined on her drive and if that’s what she wants to do.”

Saudi Arabia National Team Fail To Lineup For Minute’s Silence For London Victims

Saudi Arabia football team are being criticized after failing to lineup to maintain a minute’s silence to the victims of London Bridge terror attack.

Australia who were playing hosts to Saudi Arabia, have formed a line at the center of the pitch to pay tribute to the victims which has also seen two Aussie citizens die in the tragic incident.

The act by the Arabian team has drawn in lot of criticism and outrage among the Australian fans as the players jogged and warmed up for the game ahead of kickoff. The staff and coaching staff were also seen standing and paying their respects to the victims who suffered in London.

There are also claims that Saudi supporters shouted throughout the supposed period of silence in Adelaide. However, it is still not clear why the visiting team did not pay their respects.

A Football Federation Australia spokesperson told News Corp that Saudi team has informed them about not following the minute’s silence in the pre-match ahead of kick-off.

“Both the (Asian Football Confederation) and the Saudi team agreed that the minute of silence could be held,” the Australian federation said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

“The FFA was further advised by Saudi team officials that this tradition was not in keeping with Saudi culture and they would move to their side of the field and respect our custom whilst taking their own positions on the field.”

Here are some of the tweets related to their incident as it soon became viral across all social media platforms.
