Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh Could End Up Owning A New IPL Team

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh could end up owing an IPL 2022 team with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United, a dark-horse. The race to buy two new Indian Premier League teams is really hotting up. If well-placed sources are to be believed, the Bollywood superstar couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are the latest to join the bandwagon.

What was once seen as a two-horse race previously is now going to see multiple companies or consortiums bidding for the two new teams, which the BCCI will sell.

The Adani Group and the RP-Sanjeev Goenka Groups are no more tagged as the ‘favourites’ to walk away with the new teams. However, some serious bidders are willing to spend money on the world’s most lucrative T20 cricket league, said a top official involved with the bidding process.

Deepika Padukone And Ranveer Singh Could End Up Owing A New IPL 2022 Team Along With Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United

IPL and Bollywood have always had a great connection. Kolkata Knight Riders continue to be co-owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, while Preity Zinta has stakes in Punjab Kings. Deepika Padukone has sport in her genes.

Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a former All England badminton champion. Ranveer Singh has been involved with the English Premier League and is currently the brand ambassador of the world’s most popular basketball league, the NBA.

Apart from the Adanis and the RP-Sanjeev Goenka Group, the Glazer family, the owners of English Premier League giants Manchester United, have shown interest in the IPL teams.

It is learned that a corporate behemoth in India is backing Manchester United. According to a report in March this year, Manchester United’s net debt increased to 455 million Great Britain Pounds due to a sharp fall in gate receipts due to COVID-19.

“The BCCI is not keen to give the rights to an off-shore company and will prefer Indian buyers but power equations can change the script dramatically,” said the source.

Among those who have picked up bids, documents are pharma companies like Torrent Pharma and Aurobindo Pharma. A Singapore-based private equity firm and US-based venture capitalists have also shown interest. Naveen Jindal (Jindal Power and Steel) and entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala are also keen to acquire a new team.

Deepika Padukone Keen To Take Part Bidding Process Of Two New IPL Teams

The results will be declared in Dubai on October 25, a day after the T20 World Cup blockbuster clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. But, first, there will be an elimination round where all bids will be ‘technically’ verified as per rules laid out by the BCCI. All successful bids will then be opened, and the highest bidders will be awarded the teams.

“Although it is a closed bid, we are expecting a fair and transparent process. The only hodgepodge could happen in the verification/elimination stage but it is unlikely BCCI will adopt unfair means to favour particular companies,” said a bidder on condition of anonymity.

Winning bids could be anywhere between 375 to 425 million USD per team for a 10-year license. That means BCCI will make anything between 3000-3500 Crores per team. But there could be bigger surprises in store.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are said to be very keen on taking part in the bidding process of two new IPL teams. But the sources refused to reveal more details. Deepika Padukone has a sports background, and earlier, she was the ambassador for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Bollywood has a great connection with cricket, and stars like Shah Rukh, Preity Zinta, and Shilpa Shetty already own three teams, respectively.

BCCI expects to raise around Rs 7,000-10,000 crore from the team bidding process slated to take place on October 25. While the IPL bid document costs just Rs 10 lakh, the league allows only firms and consortiums with an annual turnover of Rs 3,000 crore to bid for the teams. The base price for new IPL teams is pegged at Rs 2,000 crore.

IPL 2021: Pat Cummins Reveals Reason For Donating $50,000 To The PM Cares Fund

Pat Cummins, the Australian fast bowler, recently donated $50,000 to help India fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The speedster, who’s currently playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL), has now revealed the reasons for making the donations to the PM-Cares Fund, an initiative by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The heartfelt gesture has garnered Pat Cummins loads of accolades from the cricket fraternity and the fans. The netizens also hailed him as a ‘hero’ for his contributions. The pacer stated that by donating the money he tried to follow the footsteps of the Knights and their co-owner Shah Rukh Khan.

Pat Cummins: Team Owner Shah Rukh Khan Donated At PM Cares Fund

Shah Rukh Khan is doing his bit to help the government in its efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic. His companies – Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX – are contributing to a number of relief funds, including the PM-Cares fund. Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL (Indian Premier League) franchise co-owned by the actor has pledged an undisclosed amount to the PM-Cares fund.

“I was just chatting to a couple of guys here at KKR, they have been really generous in their donations to the PM CARES fund over the last year or so. Shah Rukh donated himself here that suggests the way to go,” Cummins was quoted as saying to WION’s Executive Editor Palki Sharma Upadhyay.

“There are a few people back home in Australia who are keen to help India so we might set up something in the next few days to direct a few more resources to charity here,” he stated.

The Centre had set up the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund in March 2020 with the objective to deal with an emergency situation like the one currently posed by the COVID-19 outbreak and to provide relief to those affected.

Pat Cummins’ Donation Followed By Brett Lee And Sheldon Jackson

Pat Cummins also hopes to bring joy to the people of India, who are grappling their way through the pandemic. After he came forward with his helping hand, former Australian and KKR seamer Brett Lee and KKR batsman Sheldon Jackson made donations as well.

“I don’t think so. We are doing everything we don’t take any resources from the frontline. There is an aspect that us playing for three or four hours hopefully contributes to making people stay at home. It has certainly been a big topic of conversation as to how we can help,” he added.

The second wave of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has made sure that nearly three lakh cases are being recorded on a daily basis. The common people have been finding it difficult to secure hospital beds and oxygen cylinders. As far as Pat Cummins is concerned, he is currently the leading wicket-taker for KKR with nine wickets from seven games. He also has a top score of an unbeaten 66 against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mumbai.

Former Australian and KKR pacer Brett Lee followed Pat Cummins’ recent initiative and donated 1 Bitcoin for India’s fight against the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The 44-year-old, who is currently in India for the ongoing IPL 2021, took to Twitter to announce that he would be donating 1 Bitcoin to help with “the purchase of oxygen supplies for hospitals across India.” It is worth noting that 1 Bitcoin is approximately 40,95,991 Rupees.

Following Pat Cummins’ contribution to the PM Cares fund to help India’s COVID-19 fight, Kolkata Knight Riders Sheldon Jackson too has made a donation, to the Gautam Gambhir Foundation.

Shah Rukh Khan Impressed With KKR’s Fightback Despite 18-Run Defeat To CSK

Shah Rukh Khan, Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner was impressed with the valiant efforts from Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, and Dinesh Karthik despite their defeat to Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan came up with a morale-boosting reaction in a social post after the team’s 18-run loss to Chennai Super Kings in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

Shah Rukh Khan Praises Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, And Dinesh Karthik For Late Assault

Shah Rukh Khan, who did not hold back his emotions while expressing his disappointment after KKR imploded against Mumbai Indians in Chennai last week, urged the side to be more consistent. Shah Rukh had apologized to KKR fans after their ordinary performance against the defending champions who successfully defended 152.

However, on Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan pointed out the positives, highlighting the valiant efforts from Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, and Pat Cummins who fought their best to take the team past 200 after being 31/5 in their failed chase of 221 against CSK in Mumbai.

“Coulda…woulda…shoulda can take a backseat tonight… @kkriders was quite awesome I feel. ( oops if we can forget the batting power play!!) well done boys… @ar12russell @patcummins30 @dk00019 try and make this a habit…we will be back!!” Shah Rukh Khan said in a social media post.

It was KKR’s third straight defeat as the two-time champions are struggling to find consistency in IPL 2021. KKR was reduced to 31 for 5 after their top-order was blown away by Deepak Chahar.

The likes of Shubman Gill (0), captain Eoin Morgan (7), and Sunil Narine (4) failed in the powerplay as KKR looked like they would suffer a defeat by a big margin. Nitish Rana(9), Rahul Tripathi(8) also failed as KKR was reduced to 31/5 chasing a stiff 221 runs to win after CSK’s openers Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 64 and Faf du Plessis’s unbeaten 95 took CSK to a commendable total.

Andre Russell And Pat Cummins Scored The Fifties To Fight Back After KKR Was Reduced To 31/5 Thereby Looking To Lose By A Huge Margin To CSK

However, Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik rescued the team and gave their fans slender hopes of a miraculous victory. The partnership was worth 81 runs for the 6th wicket in just 6 overs before Andre Russell (22-ball 54) was bowled around his legs by Sam Curran in the 12th over.

Dinesh Karthik hit 40 from 24 but the former captain fell in the 15th over. Just when CSK was looking to wrap things up early, Pat Cummins came up with a brutal onslaught, taking the CSK pacers to the cleaners at the Wankhede.

Pat Cummins hit 6 sixes and 4 boundaries for his 34-ball 66 not out but he ran out of partners as KKR were bowled out for 202 in the 20th over.  In the end, the Chennai Super Kings had put up too many runs and taken too many wickets upfront, as a valiant chase ended with the Kolkata Knight Riders 202 all out in 19.1 overs.

Pat Cummins was unconquered on 66 and the last two wickets were run-outs with Pat Cummins trying to retain strike. KKR will be looking to bounce back when they take on former champions Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on Saturday, April 24.

Chennai Super Kings 220 for 3 (du Plessis 95, Gaikwad 64) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 202 (Cummins 66*, Russell 54, Chahar 4-29, Ngidi 3-28) by 18 runs.

When Ricky Ponting Speaks, Chak De India Song Should Be Played In The Background: Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw, Delhi Capitals opener said he is looking forward to working with coach Ricky Ponting again, saying the head coach is the “boss on the field” and a good friend of it.

India opener Prithvi Shaw on Wednesday talked up his equation with Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting, saying he is excited to have the Australian legend back in the dressing room at Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

Prithvi Shaw Thinks When Ricky Ponting Speaks Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De India Song Should Be Played In Background

Prithvi Shaw also made a special mention of the much-talked-about pep talks from Ricky Ponting, likening them to the ones that Shah Rukh Khan’s Kabir Khan character delivers in the popular Hindi film, Chak De! India.

Ricky Ponting makes it a habit to have a pep talk before and after IPL matches. As revealed in some beautifully executed social media videos by the Delhi Capitals, Ricky Ponting often delivers rousing dressing room speeches, giving away his own Man of the Match awards after every IPL encounter.

“The boss is back. He is a very nice person. On the field, he is like a boss, off the field he is like a friend. I think he is a very nice person. Let’s see how it goes (this year). Absolutely, I think when Ricky sir speaks, it should be played in the background. Shah Rukh Khan’s song,” Shaw told Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.

Ricky Ponting said he was perplexed at Prithvi Shaw’s self-found theory of not wanting to practice in the nets when he was not getting any runs with the willow. Prithvi Shaw had a great start to the IPL in UAE last year but then suddenly saw a dramatic dip in form and registered several single-digit scores before being dropped in the later stages of the tournament. He scored only 228 runs averaging a mere 17.53 in IPL 2020.

Prithvi Shaw Won’t Bat When He’s Not Scoring Runs And When He’s Scoring He Keeps Batting All The Time: Ricky Ponting

Prithvi Shaw’s comments come days after coach Ricky Ponting heaped praise on the Delhi Capitals opener before heading to India for IPL 2021. Notably, Ricky Ponting also revealed an interesting point about the young opener, saying he does not bat at the nets when he is not scoring runs in the middle.

“He had an interesting theory on his batting last year. When he’s not scoring runs, he won’t bat, and when he is scoring runs, he wants to keep batting all the time. He had four or five games where he made under ten and I’m telling him, ‘We have to go to the nets and work out [what’s wrong]’, and he looked me in the eye and said, ‘No, I’m not batting today’. I couldn’t really work that out,” Ponting had told

Prithvi Shaw is unlikely to do so this year as he has been in fine form in the lead up to IPL 2021. He overcame an ordinary Australia tour and hit peak form in the 50 overs domestic tournament-Vijay Hazare Trophy as he hit a record-breaking 827 runs in 8 matches, leading Mumbai to the title in the 50-over domestic competition.

Mumbai stand-in captain and opener Prithvi Shaw became the first player to register more than 800 runs in a single edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Delhi Capitals will be led by Rishabh Pant in IPL 2021. The finalists from last year will take on Chennai Super Kings in their opening match in Mumbai on April 10.

Shah Rukh Khan Demoralised Sourav Ganguly After Removing Him From KKR’s Captaincy: Abhijeet Bhattacharya

Sourav Ganguly’s axing from his home town IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is still a debatable subject. Even though he was one of the highest scorers for the franchise, the Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise didn’t retain him after IPL 2010. It was a big question and several experts had given their own logic for dropping former Indian captain from KKR.

The renowned singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who has lent his voice to Shah Rukh Khan in several Bollywood superhit songs, has said that the removal of Sourav Ganguly from captaincy then followed by his ouster from the squad was wrong and demoralized the Kolkata-born star.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Abhijeet even said that the entire saga of first dropping Ganguly from India’s captain post to axing him from KKR was disrespectful towards the left-handed batsman

“Shahrukh Khan created KKR and then removed Sourav Ganguly. It seemed like he came only to do that. Sourav Ganguly showed us what is the role of a captain in cricket, but then the likes of Greg Chappell and Kiran More demoralized him. Next, Shahrukh Khan said that remove him and elect another guy. So, to demoralise him so much was wrong,” he said.

Sourav Ganguly shared this incident in his autobiography:

Sourav Ganguly, in his autobiography “ A Century is not enough ”, has talked about this episode. He had given a theory that his chest-thumping in a particular match at Eden Gardens had angered the KKR Management which had likely led the decision of his ouster.

The current BCCI president played the rest of his IPL for Pune Warriors and then retired from the T20 league.

Meanwhile, the IPL 2020 is slated to begin from 19 September with the match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, the two finalists of the last edition. The grand finale of the tournament will be played on 10th November.

Shah Rukh Khan Misses The Thriller Of IPL Amid Lockdown

The outbreak of coronavirus has triggered India’s annual cricket festival, Indian Premier League. The 13th edition of the popular league has been postponed indefinitely to curb the spread of the deadly virus. As the fans are missing the IPL time, the Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan who is the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise owner also misses the tournament.

The government across the world has declared lockdown to follow social distancing to fight the virus which has taken lives of over 1,66,041 people. India had also extended the lockdown from 14th April to 3rd May.

Board Control of Cricket in India had also to take the decision to cancel all the international series as well as postpone the IPL. The tournament was earlier scheduled to start from 29th March but was postponed till 15th April. But now with increasing cases of affected people in India and worldwide, the Indian board had to postpone it indefinitely.

In normal circumstances, the fans would have witnessed the thrilling start of the tournament with the match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The two teams are the tough competitor of each other and would have said the tone for the 13th edition.

KKR’s owner Shah Rukh Khan in his recent Tweet has said that he also misses all the fun and thriller that comes with IPL. The actor likes to attend his team’s matches and support them in the field. He has been the part of many memorable KKR’s wins.

Last year, KKR finished fifth in the points table with winning six matches out of 14. In IPL 2020 auction, they bought the most expensive player of IPL history, Pat Cummins, for whopping money of INR 15.50 crore. They had also bought the England captain Eoin Morgan for INR 5.25 Core. Unfortunately, the unprecedented virus has put the whole world in a standstill.

Shoaib Akhtar Reminisces About The Good Old Days In IPL

Veteran cricketer Shoaib Akhtar was once a vital cog in the wheel for Pakistan cricket team. Beyond that, he has also graced the Indian Premier League (IPL) in its inaugural edition (2008). He used to be credited for taking his team out from the danger against the opposition. Remembering one of such instances, Akhtar recounted the days of IPL when he derailed Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) in his first game.

In 2008, defending a low score of 133 runs, Akhtar took four wickets which ultimately led to the Daredevils being restricted to 110 runs. He ended with figures of four wickets for 11 runs from three overs, a performance which earned him the Player of the Match award too in the cash-rich league.

“Shah Rukh was running all over the ground”: Akhtar said.

Akhtar said that seeing his performance against DD, even Shah Rukh started running all over Eden Park.

“When I took 4 wickets, everyone went mad. Even Shah Rukh was running all over the ground, he went mad and was delirious. I thought did I win the world cup, such was the frenzy all around. Shah Rukh said you have won a very big match for us.”

Shoaib Akhtar, IPL, KKR, Shahrukh khan

At that time, Shoaib was a major bowler for KKR who has also received praise from legendary Sourav Ganguly. Former Indian cricketer praised the speedster in his book. He said that Akhtar made a lot of difference in the game.

However, Akhtar has only played three IPL games in his career that too only in 2008. Former pacer had later withdrawn his name from the league stating that he was injured.

Also, during his first appearance in the league, he was surrounded by the allegations of violating player of conduct.

Akhtar had got into a rift with his teammate Mohammad Asif. Thus, seeing his blistering performance, Ganguly acknowledged the pacer’s effort.

“He came to the country with lots [of things] happening behind him…But he showed a lot of character,” Ganguly said.

Of late, Shoaib is running a YouTube channel to record his views.

IPL 2019: Shah Rukh Khan Tweets A Delightful Message After Shubman Gill’s Brilliant Match-Winning Knock

On last Friday (3rd May) night, the youngster Shubman Gill played a brilliant innings that guided his team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), to a crucial victory against the home team Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Mohali. Gill played that innings in front of his family members who were present at the venue. Later, the KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan posted a delightful message on his official Twitter account.

It was an important match for KKR to stay in the IPL 2019 playoff contest. After winning the toss, the KKR captain Dinesh Karthik decided to bowl first. In the first innings of the match, KXIP put a challenging total on the board as they scored 183/6 in 20 overs. While Mayank Agarwal (36) and Nicholas Pooran (48) played some crucial innings, Sam Curran‘s late fiery batting (55* off 24 balls) helped the host side to manage a good first innings total.

Shubman Gill guided KKR to the victory

In reply, KKR openers Shubman Gill and Chris Lynn provided a great start with a 62-run partnership in the first six overs. The Australian cricketer Lynn dominated that partnership as he scored 46 runs off just 22 balls.

After Lynn’s dismissal on the final ball of the powerplay, Gill took charge in that chasing. The 19-year-old calmly guided the KKR side to a crucial victory after remaining not out on 65 runs off 49 balls. In that outstanding innings, the right-handed batsman hit five boundaries and two over-boundaries. His innings helped KKR to successfully chase the target in 18 overs after losing three wickets (185/3). Later, he won the Player of the Match award for his impressive batting performance.

Gill played that innings in front of his family members. His father danced after Gill completed his fourth IPL half-century.

After the end of the match, KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan praised the lad along with the other team members. However, he also added that the night belonged to Gill’s father.

The Bollywood star tweeted on his official account, “Well done @KKRiders & @DineshKarthik . All played like u should…by backing urselves. @lynny50#SWarrier @RealShubmanGill good job. But tonite belongs to Papa! 3 cheers for proud papa & family.”

Shubman Gill has played impressive cricket in IPL 2019

Shubman Gill has impressed in the ongoing IPL season (IPL 2019). After playing 12 innings in this season, the right-handed batsman has scored 287 runs (average 35.87). He has performed very well as a top-order batsman where he hit all three half-centuries in this season.

Gill’s latest half-century was his second consecutive half-century. In his previous match against Mumbai Indians (MI), Gill scored 76 runs off 45 balls that helped KKR to win that match by 34 runs.

IPL 2019: Sourav Ganguly Sitting On Winning Side Is The Only Positive – Shah Rukh Khan

Over the years, the Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan, who is also the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders is known for his prowess in speaking. He knows how to deliver those things with love and a bit of sarcasm added to it. He once again kept that at a display with his tweet for Sourav Ganguly and his players.

Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Delhi Capitals at Eden Gardens after the brilliant show from Shikhar Dhawan. Despite that, the owner of the franchises sees a lot of positives for the team in the concluded game against Shreyas Iyer-led side.

We Lacked Heart In Bowling – Shah Rukh Khan

Firstly, he congratulated Shubman Gill and Andre Russell, who delivered the goods yet again for the team. Then, he expressed his disappointment on the poor bowling show, which lacked intent and determination.

Shah Rukh Khan, Sourav Ganguly

Following that Shah Rukh Khan added that the biggest positive of the game is that our very own Sourav Ganguly ended up on the winning side at Eden Gardens. Meanwhile, fans loved his tweet.

Digging into his tweet, it read ”Wonderful play by @RealShubmanGill & @Russell12A yet again. Losing is ok but today we kind of lacked heart, especially bowling, that’s sad. Only positive out of this game was that our Dada @SGanguly99 was at Eden on the winning side. Congrats Delhi Capitals.”

Coming to the game, Kolkata Knight Riders looked favourites after their first innings tally on the board. They also got Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer early in the innings. However, the stunning knock from Shikhar Dhawan changed the course of the game for KKR.

The bowling department lost their lines and length during the middle overs, which saw them losing the second game on a trot. Now, they will host Chennai Super Kings at the same venue on Sunday.

IPL 2019: Shah Rukh Khan Hails Andre Russell for His Match Winning Knock Against RCB

It was yet again a game-changing innings from the blade of Andre Russell which helped Kolkata Knight Riders steal their 3rd victory of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He smashed the Bangalore bowlers all around the park and remained unbeaten on 48 of 13 deliveries which included 7 sixes and a four. It was total mayhem in the last four overs as Andre Russell went berserk and finished off the match for Kolkata Knight Riders with 5 balls to spare.

The principal owner of KKR, Shah Rukh Khan was overjoyed after his franchise’s performance. He lauded players like Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa and Nitish Rana for their good knocks. However, he conceded the fact that Andre Russell proved to be the difference between the two sides. Andre Russell has proved in the last few matches that no score is unachievable for him.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Shah Rukh Khan wrote, “Well played boys @KKRiders @lynny50 @NitishRana_27 @robbieuthappa. Each one in the team did so well but you all will agree on all words of praise r worth less than this picture…

Andre Russell came out to bat when the match was well within the grasp of Royal Challengers Bangalore. After missing a few of the first four deliveries, Russell went hammers and tongs. He smashed 23 runs off a Mohammad Siraj over and followed it up with 29 runs of Tim Southee which literally buried the game.

Andre Russell’s sheer consistency of hitting the ball out of the park time and again makes him a very special for KKR. He is undoubtedly one of the most powerful strikers of the ball if not the most powerful striker of the ball ever. Even his mistimed hits go over the fence which makes the job even more difficult for the opposition bowlers.

IPL 2019: Shah Rukh Khan Hails Andre Russell for His Match Winning Knock Against RCB 1

Earlier in the day, Royal Challengers Bangalore had something to smile after they put a competitive 205 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers looked in great touch and shared a century partnership. While Virat Kohli scored 84, de Villiers chipped in with 63. The score would have been enough for Bangalore had there not been someone like Andre Russell in the opposition line-up.
