Update On When Next WWE Saudi Arabia PPV Event Will Take Place

WWE Universe may have not been very much fond of the pay-per-view events carried out in Saudi Arabia but that didn’t put a stop to the massive deal the company has with the country’s sports authority. There are plans for the WWE Superstars to eventually return to the country for one more show. It appears that the date is approaching closer.

In an update received on the situation, WWE is about to nail down an exact date to host the next big show in Saudi Arabia. There’s no confirmed update on which city the event will take place in, but the Entertainment Authority of the country has picked a month for the next show. If all go right, then WWE will visit the country by the end of this year.

Update On When Next WWE Saudi Arabia PPV Event Will Take Place 1

Wrestling Club, a Middle Eastern pro wrestling account on Twitter that has broken stories in the past, shared a post to confirm WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia. It was stated that they have agreed on November as the month while no exact date was reported. The tweet was originally published in Arabian which was translated to English as it said,

“The Entertainment Authority initially chooses the month of November to hold the next wrestling show in Saudi Arabia.”

Saudi Arabia shows need massive star power

WWE generally stacks up the shows for their Saudi Arabian events as much as possible. At a time, when lack of star power has become a major issue, it will be very interesting to see who WWE can book to go overseas with them. As a result of the pandemic, WWE had to skip out on a couple of shows in the Kingdom. Those shows will be tacked onto the end of their existing deal, dragging it further.

Update On When Next WWE Saudi Arabia PPV Event Will Take Place 2

The expectation is that WWE may visit Saudi Arabia, later this year. According to WrestleVotes in the last, there’s a very high possibility that WWE returns to the middle-east country for a major pay-per-view event in late 2021:

“Two WWE sources indicate that an event in Saudi Arabia prior to the end of 2021 is very much on the table.”

The final Saudi Arabia PPV was WWE Super ShowDown 2020 in February of last year. Big names like The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, and Goldberg performed in that show. Going by WWE’s usual bookings, the company had to skip at least a couple of shows in Saudi, that is one by the end of 2020 and the one in early 2021.

Flashback: The Undertaker Failed To Deliver A Mega Match In WWE, 2 Years Ago

2 years ago today, WWE booked a dream match for the professional wrestling fanatics – The Undertaker vs. Goldberg. It’s not mandatory that every match with such a huge magnitude will deliver to the fullest. Sadly for this one, the match wasn’t even close to the legacies set by the two superstars during their career. It appeared to be an overall catastrophe by all means.

WWE Super ShowDown 2019 pay-per-view featured The Undertaker vs. Goldberg for the first time ever in the main event, and it was a total failure. “The Phenome vs. The Icon” had several botches during the match which could have caused career-ending injuries for both the superstars. Goldberg was not in the condition of competing as the match had to be ended with stiff Chokeslam from his opponent.

People blamed their age for whatever happened inside the ring. But then again, they started the match, very well. All could have gone well if not Goldberg was knocked out by banging his head in the ring post. He was bleeding profusely and with that temperature in Saudi Arabia, it was just too much for him to carry on the match. The bottom line is that WWE just shouldn’t have booked this match in the year 2019.

They previously had failed at Crown Jewel 2018 after booking The Undertaker and Kane vs. Triple H and Shawn Michaels. But they decided to book another such mega match involving two legendary superstars to experience, failure, again.

The Undertaker: The Last Ride documentary was released on the WWE Network Sunday, after Money In The Bank 2020 pay-per-view where the Phenome also revealed that he was this close to death after Goldberg botched a Jackhammer attempt. He literally dropped his opponent on his head. Even, ‘Taker did the same while delivering a Tombstone Piledriver which wasn’t safe, at all.

The Undertaker wanted to wipe out this bad memory, as early as possible as he returned to action in Extreme Rules 2019 by teaming up with Roman Reigns against the team of Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon. On that year’s Summerslam, Goldberg also appeared in action to squash Dolph Ziggler in a match to find back his mojo.

WWE Reportedly Returning To Saudi Arabia By 2021 End

WWE hasn’t been able to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for over a year due to the ongoing pandemic. As it looks to be slowing down a bit around the States and the Kingdom, plans are being put up for the next spectacle, aboard. WWE could be returning for a grand show to the middle east country by the end of this year, per the latest speculations.

It has been reported by @Wrestlevotes that two WWE sources indicate that an event in Saudi Arabia is expected before 2021 ends. This is something very much on the table while no additional details have been provided, for now,

WWE and the Saudi General Sports Authority announced in 2018 that they signed a contract for a 10-year strategic multiplatform partnership to support the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, planned for the Kingdom’s social and economic reform program. As part of it, WWE was obliged to present a couple of shows, each year in Saudi Arabia, starting from that year.

Now that deal had to be called off, temporarily as the COVID-19 pandemic forced delays in 2020 and the two pay-per-view events were canceled, last year. With vaccination being thoroughly implied around the USA and Kingdom being one of the less affected countries by the coronavirus, the two parties could be back in talks to bring back the global PPV events after the one-year hiatus.

There’s no confirmation on when exactly WWE might intend to return to Saudi Arabia, as of now but more updates should be out in the future. Before this, WWE visited Saudi Arabia for Greatest Royal Rumble and Crown Jewel in 2018, Super ShowDown and Crown Jewel in 2019, and Super ShowDown in 2020, the final show in the Kingdom before the pandemic.

Bray Wyatt Sends A Forgiveness Message To WWE Legend Goldberg

Bray Wyatt and Goldberg have their own brief history in the WWE despite being two different generation superstars. Earlier this year, the former WCW franchise player defeated the Eater of the World for the Universal Title, but now that title is back around Wyatt’s shoulders. This is why Wyatt has now forgiven Goldberg for what he’s done to him in Saudi Arabia that is taking away something that was in Wyatt’s possession.

The current WWE Universal Champion sent out a tweet to address Goldberg. He addressed the negative things that people have said to The Myth who shouldn’t mind those comments, at all. Bray Wyatt is seemingly back on the same page with Goldberg who now advises the latter not to listen to all those people.

Here are the exact comments posted on Twitter,

“Dearest Goldberg ,

Don’t worry old friend we fixed it.

Don’t listen to what they say, you and I know they’re wrong.

I forgive you!

But please, if you see the red walk away from it.”

How Roman Reigns’ Return At Summerslam 2020 Was A Top WWE Secret

So the good thing is that Bray Wyatt is ready to move on from the past that should be a piece of important news for Goldberg. Another thing to note from those above comments is that Goldberg was also advised to stay away from the red light that is associated with The Fiend. The veteran may think twice before stepping into the ring with the demonic figure, ever again.

It’ll be interesting to see if Goldberg and Bray Wyatt ever meet in the ring, again. Goldberg recently confirmed that he still has three years left in his WWE contract that should produce at least three matches, per year. So, it is very likely that we’d see him make an eventual return to the ring when bigger events occur in the near future.

WWE Payback 2020

Goldberg competed against The Fiend Bray Wyatt at the 2020 Super ShowDown event in February to take away the Universal Title from him. Later in April, he dropped the belt to Braun Strowman at Wrestlemania 36. With these two matches, he is said to be over with his WWE duties for this year and will only be back next year.

In the meantime, Bray Wyatt dethroned Strowman from his title reign at this past Summerslam 2020 and will now defend the belt at Payback 2020 in a Triple Threat also featuring Roman Reigns and Strowman.

The Undertaker Was Originally Set To Face THIS STAR At WWE Super Showdown

The latest bygone episode of The Undertaker’s documentary series, The Last Ride, came up with some exclusive footage from the night after WrestleMania 35. After ‘Taker missed the biggest event of the year, many started speculating about the in-ring career of The Deadman but he has risen the very next night to have a stand-off against Elias.

The Drifter would dare to take the name of a Deadman after which the gong hit the arena to give everyone sitting in the arena, goosebumps. The Undertaker would proceed to deliver a chokeslam and Tombstone Piledriver to Elias. As revealed in the documentary, the exchange would then set up a matchup between the two Superstars at WWE’s 2019 Saudi Arabia event, Super ShowDown in June.

The Undertaker: Shane McMahon Wants A Rematch With WWE Legend

While talking through his Instagram account, Elias revealed how a match was “set to happen” in Saudi Arabia as WWE planted the seeds of the match by hosting that segment. He remembered how everything about that night was “electric”. But plans changed in due course where Elias was removed from the card. The Undertaker would then go on to face Goldberg in a singles contest.

“Myself and The Deadman have crossed paths multiple times since I’ve been here, and I hope it’s not the last,” Elias wrote. “There is a great story to be told both on-screen & behind the curtain. He’s one of the greatest to ever do it,” Elias said on missing the opportunity to be in the ring with The Undertaker.

The fourth episode of The Undertaker: The Last Ride was released this past weekend, immediately after Backlash. The series has provided an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the illustrious career of The Phenome where he reflected on his legacy and wanting to accomplish more in pro-wrestling. The final episode of the documentation will be available on the WWE Network on Sunday, June 21.

The Undertaker Was Originally Set To Face THIS STAR At WWE Super Showdown 69

The same documentary has also revealed that The Undertaker was extremely frustrated with the matchup against Goldberg at Super ShowDown which appeared to be a failure. Following this, he decided to show up in a match, as early as possible to erase the bitterness about the bygone match. Thus he competed at Extreme Rules 2019 to pick a win over Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre by teaming with Roman Reigns.

When And Where Would Goldberg Consider His WWE Retirement Match?

It’s pretty amazing to think that Bill Goldberg is headlining Wrestlemania 36 even at 53 years of age. WWE considers him to be the best marketing superstars when it comes to delivering a marquee match at the show of shows.

Breaking: John Cena Announced For WWE Smackdown Return

Thus, he dethroned the earlier considered main-eventer The Fiend Bray Wyatt and won the Universal Championship at Super ShowDown. This, in turn, set up the main event match that we have never thought of seeing.

Goldberg will now be challenged by Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 36 with his coveted prize hanging in the balance. The majestic ‘spear vs spear’ bout will decide the fate of the Universal Championship at the showcase of immortals.

As reported earlier, WWE is thinking of putting over the current franchise player using the former WCW franchise who is inching closer to retirement. It’s almost certain that Goldberg will drop the belt to the Big Dog on April 5th.

When And Where Would Goldberg Consider His WWE Retirement Match? 86

Then the questions transformed into what’s next for The Myth who once held an undefeated streak. Goldberg can’t continue his wrestling stint forever. The inhuman persona he portrays is for the on-screen purpose which is pretty different from real-life. With that being said, the elephant of the room had to be addressed.

WWE Removes Smackdown Taping Due To Corona Virus Issues

In a recent interview with Total Slam Podcast, Goldberg said that he is Jewish by religion. So he and his agent are considering having his retirement match in Israel,

“I’m considering my retirement match in Israel. As a matter of fact, my agent and I talked about that a minute ago and that’s a big topic of conversation right now, so its something we’re going to consider.”

To date, WWE has not hosted international live events or shows in Israel. It means Goldberg will have to wrestle for another promotion in his final match or arrange a show on his own so that he will be able to have his retirement match in the Middle Eastern country.

That time may not be arriving sooner as Goldberg wishes to wrestle until WWE does not back down from bringing new challenges. In a recent conversation with WWE’s The Bump, the Universal Champ stated that as long as he thinks he can deliver in the ring, he will show up in wrestling capacities,

“Just like I mentioned to someone yesterday saying: ‘Hey when are you gonna hang it up?’ The fact is that if I get a phone call [from WWE] and I can still do what I did back in the day and bring it to at least an acceptable level then I’m not gonna say no.

I’m a defensive lineman. I’m a meathead by trade so if you give me, you know a challenge I’m gonna take it.”

Update On Next Saudi Arabia PPV To Be Hosted By The WWE

Despite what the feedback is, WWE officials are looking forward to heading back overseas, later this year in the middle east. They are currently planning their return to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. There’s no confirmed update on when the next event in the country would take place, but PWInsider.com hinted that they are looking to book a slot in late October or early November.

WWE Super Showdown 2020 Results: Undertaker Returns; Goldberg Becomes Champion

An additional event was rumored as last year a statement was released regarding an additional show in Saudi Arabia while the extension of WWE and the country’s Sports Authority was confirmed. However, it looks like following Super ShowDown 2020, there would only be one more Saudi Arabia PPV and not the third one during the fall.

Lacey Evans Shares Incredible Experience From Saudi Arabia

As noted by wrestlingINC.com, the return date was once supposed to be during the summer of 2020. However, that slot was changed since temperature remains much higher in Saudi during that point,

“The return date of Thursday, August 20 was pitched at one point, believed to be for an event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but that idea was nixed because of how close it would be to SummerSlam Weekend and the likelihood that temperatures would be in the 100-120 degree range.”

Update On Next Saudi Arabia PPV To Be Hosted By The WWE 99

Super ShowDown 2019 in Saudi Arabia took place in June where the main event was affected due to extreme heat. Goldberg fainted while competing against The Undertaker as the match turned out to be a complete disaster. So WWE could be pushing for a later date for the obvious reason.

WWE hosted Super ShowDown 2020 event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, February 27. Before that, the Crown Jewel 2019 was held in late October. So the possibility is high that they’d go with Crown Jewel 2020 name for the next event during this upcoming fall. However, it’s yet to be confirmed.

Overall, the upcoming event in Saudi Arabia will be the sixth one under the 10-year-deal between WWE and the Saudi General Sports Authority. The trend of hosting such global shows in the Kingdom started with Greatest Royal Rumble, held in April 2018, in Jeddah.

WWE then returned in November 2018 for Crown Jewel in Riyadh followed by Super ShowDown 2019 in June of last year, in Jeddah. The Crown Jewel chronology continued in Riyadh last Halloween, and then again Super ShowDown 2020 was held in the last week of February in Riyadh.

WWE Smackdown Preview (28/02/20): John Cena Returns; Super Showdown Fallouts

The tone of this week’s Smackdown is already set with the headliner name of John Cena. The franchise player of the company is returning to make some major changes to WWE’s Road to Wrestlemania 36. Additionally, we are just 10 days away from the Elimination Chamber PPV for which the buildups will be continuing. The new Universal Champion Goldberg will also be in the house to address his win against The Fiend.

Plus, massive fallouts are expected on Smackdown from the just bygone Super Showdown event, last night in Saudi Arabia. What could be waiting next in the championship picture? Will there be new Elimination Chamber matches from the blue brand for both male and female divisions? We will get to know when Smackdown airs with the latest episode from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

John Cena Reportedly Set To Be Major Part Of WWE Wrestlemania 36

Just five weeks remaining from Wrestlemania 36, one of the cornerstone figures of the WWE is coming back home on Smackdown. It’s none other than John Cena who’d show up on WWE programming after almost one year’s hiatus to potentially note on his role for the biggest event of the year,

“John Cena will return to SmackDown on Friday, Feb. 28, as Team Blue continues down The Road to WrestleMania.

It was on SmackDown where The Cenation Leader made his dynamic debut nearly 18 years ago when he channeled “Ruthless Aggression” to challenge WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle in his debut match. Since that fateful night, Cena went on to become WWE’s standard-bearer, earning 16 World Championships and inspiring countless WWE fans to “Never Give Up.”

An icon in the ring and the star of such blockbuster films as “Bumblebee,” “Blockers” and the upcoming “F9: The Fast Saga,” Cena will soon bring his signature “Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect” back to SmackDown, as first reported by WWE Backstage on FS1.”

WWE Smackdown Preview (28/02/20): John Cena Returns; Super Showdown Fallouts 115

It’s almost certain that WWE will look forward to inserting John Cena into a Wrestlemania capacity, right away. He will feature in a bigger way on the card considering the show will emanate from his hometown of Tampa, Florida. The road to the biggest event will begin for him probably with the Elimination Chamber. He is most likely to announce himself for the gimmick-based match on March 8th.

Host Venue Leaks Out Hall Of Famer Edge’s Return Date On WWE Raw

Goldberg has won the Universal Championship defeating The Fiend Bray Wyatt at Super ShowDown that may have shocked some of the WWE Universe. The question remains how WWE intends to use the legendary name on SmackDown from now onwards as we gear up for WrestleMania. The questions will be answered as Goldberg will be in attendance on tonight’s episode of the show in Boston as confirmed by WWE.com,

“Goldberg is headed to Friday Night SmackDown, and he’s bringing the Universal Title with him.

The WWE Hall of Famer sent shockwaves through the sports-entertainment world when he defeated “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at WWE Super ShowDown. Instead of who’s next, the WWE Universe will be wondering what’s next for Goldberg as he heads into his second reign as Universal Champion.

Will “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt reemerge to confront the first man to stop his twisted rampage? Or will Goldberg target a new member of Team Blue?”

WWE Smackdown Preview (28/02/20): John Cena Returns; Super Showdown Fallouts 116

Elimination Chamber is the next pay-per-view event in line and it’s expected that the gimmick match could determine the next contender for the Universal Title. Six names will be announced for a chance for a superstar who’d eventually challenge Goldberg for the title at WrestleMania 36. Last week, Sheamus declared himself to be one of them. With Cena being in the context, WWE should be confirming four more names for the match.

Speaking of Elimination Chamber, there would be a separate one for the SmackDown Women’s Division, as well. Lacey Evans already talked about it which should get confirmed, tonight. Evans will be one of the competitors for the gimmick match whereas five more names would be confirmed. The challenger will be named the new number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship who faces Bayley at WrestleMania.

Plus, a new feud between Otis Dojovic and Dolph Ziggler will gradually brew up revolving around Mandy Rose. There’s speculation that it might culminate a match at WrestleMania. It’ll be interesting to see how WWE stretches out the feud, next. Also, we would hear what’d be in store for the new Smackdown tag team champions, The Miz and John Morrison when the show airs from Boston.

WWE Superstars To Leave Saudi Arabia Together After Super Showdown 2020

WWE’s last trip to Saudi Arabia ended in a great fiasco about which most of the superstars were not happy. Controversies surrounded all over the tour as superstars were stuck for an additional 24 hours once the show was over. Vince McMahon and his staff left before the problems arose and most of the stars were not able to attend SmackDown, the very next night.

WWE Super Showdown 2020 Match Card, Preview & Predictions

These raised concerns among the superstars who now want to ensure that they leave Super ShowDown on time. Mike Johnson stated on PW Insider Elite audio that there is an “unofficial edict” around the WWE locker room regarding WWE’s next trip to Saudi Arabia. It states that nobody is leaving unless all of them leave together.

Current Plan For The Winner Of Tuwaiq Trophy At WWE Super Showdown 2020

There are issues with the fact that some WWE employees left before most of the superstars, last time around that is during Crown Jewel 2019.

Here’s more from the source,

“I have been told that basically in the company there was an unofficial edict that stated like ‘We’re all going together, we’re all staying together, nobody is leaving early if there’s an issue, everybody is staying together.’ If you’re not a wrestler and you’re part of the support staff you’re not leaving until the wrestlers leave because there was some anger on the wrestlers’ end that some people who worked for the company left before the wrestlers did and the wrestlers got stuck.”

https://twitter.com/WWEonFOX/status/1231760657470459907/photo/1

Mike although doubted the staying of Vince McMahon all the way through the show by saying,

“I’ll be shocked if Vince isn’t gone halfway through the show.”

All the eyes will be on the show organizers as well as on Vince McMahon and his staffs who should ensure that the superstars escape the Saudi Kingdom, safely, this time around.

WWE originally announced Super ShowDown at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. But later the WWE website confirmed that the show will take place at the Mohammed Abdou Arena at The Boulevard in Riyadh.

It is one of the venues that has been used for recent events held in the Saudi Kingdom as they try to attract more worldwide entertainment ventures to the country. The venue reportedly holds 22,000 guests, but that is not official.
