Football Star Zlatan Ibrahimovic Inspires Jasprit Bumrah

In the wake of coronavirus, BCCI has postponed all the events during the lockdown. With no cricket scheduled till 15th April, cricketers are also getting bored. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah joined the live chat with India’s vice-captain, Rohit Sharma. They both shared interesting stories to entertain fans. During the conversation, the pacer also revealed that he idolises Swedish star footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović.

Both the Indian teammates rarely get the time to spend with their family because they are busy the whole year playing for India. As now they have got the opportunity, Rohit and Jasprit Bumrah seem to enjoy their time with loved ones.

While live chat, Rohit questioned Bumrah why he follows footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović. According to the pacer, like the footballer, his talent was earlier ignored. Now, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic has become one of the best players in football, people took him seriously. The same thing happened with him as people seldom took his talent seriously, as per Bumrah.

“I love Ibra. I can relate to his story, that people did not take him seriously and then he became a star. I can relate as people took me lightly initially, and then I proved them wrong.” Bumrah said in the live Instagram session with Rohit Sharma.

Jasprit Bumrah has risen as the bowler who can be a danger to opposition batsmen at their home. He first entered the scene after his prolific performance in the 2013 season for Mumbai Indians. Because of his unique action, he grabbed the eye of the national selector as well.

He went on to earn the call on the national side in 2016 and now is a regular feature in the team. Last year, he had a break in his career because of injury at the lower back. But he has recovered and is expected to continue his stunt for the team.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Becomes The Highest Paid Player In MLS

Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be earning a staggering amount of $7.2 million this season, most in MLS history.

Since arriving in the Major League Soccer, Zlatan has put his mark in the league scoring amazing goals and with his behavioural issues. In one and a half season in the MLS he has scored 33 goals and provided 13 assists.

Ibra’s decision to stay in the United States is paying off with the enormous rise in his salary from $1.5 million which he was getting paid in his first season at LA Galaxy to $7.2 million.

The average base salary for senior-roster, non-designated players is $345,867, up 13.3 percent, according to the MLSPA. Over five years, that figure has grown 150 percent. The minimum salary for players on the supplemental roster is $70,250, while those on the reserve roster make at least $56,250.

“We are encouraged by the continued salary growth that has occurred over each of the last five years. As the League grows and revenues increase, it’s critical that we see this kind of continued investment in player compensation up and down the roster,” said MLSPA Executive Director Bob Foose.

“Players are the heart of MLS, and if MLS is to become the league of choice that it aspires to be, it needs to keep pace in an increasingly competitive market for players, both domestic and international. We feel good about these trends, and we expect to see them continue.”

“As I have believed from the beginning when the Players Association fought to make this data public, access to salary information benefits players through added transparency in the contract market,” said Foose.

“Transparency is critical to ensure player performance is properly rewarded.”

Will Zlatan Ibrahimovic Play Another Season in MLS?

Former Sweden forward, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unsure about his future and declined to commit to another season with the LA Galaxy in the MLS.

Ibrahimovic is uncertain about his future at the moment.

Ibrahimovic is still confused if he wants to continue for one more season in MLS. However, he had a season to remember for LA Galaxy. He scored 17 goals in 22 matches which including some mind-blowing goals. When asked about his future, Zlatan wanted to avoid the question and said to wait.

“I don’t know. This I have to discuss. This is not the moment to talk about that. It’s something I’ll discuss with the club. What they want, what I want. So let’s see.”

The Swedish striker suffered a horrible injury during his time at Manchester United which kept him out of the game for almost a season. However, Zlatan said he is now physically doing well.

“I have five games. I’m happy. Physically I feel strong; I feel good. I’m producing. So I just need to win games, and then everything is perfect.”

Zlatan joined LA Galaxy during the struggling phase of the side. They were in a seven-game winless streak and sacked coach Sigi Schmid. However, the Swedish striker loved to be part of a different challenge.

“It’s a different challenge. The team I played for [before], I had that feeling like we were unbeatable. Nobody can destroy us. We will destroy everybody.”

Zlatan’s wages has also turned out to be an issue. He makes only $1.5 million, which is the fourth-highest paid players on the Galaxy. Meanwhile, his team-mate Giovani dos Santos is making $6m, which is the fifth-highest compensation in MLS.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Asks Jose Mourinho to Not Pick Him Before Manchester United Exit

Former Manchester United (MU) striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic made a name for himself at the Old Trafford in just one season. However, a horrific knee injury meant he endured a tough phase during his final months at the professional club.

Having signed for free in the summer of 2016, the veteran striker lit Premier League with his dazzling dribbling and extraordinary finishing. He carried the team on his shoulders during ace manager Jose Mourinho’s first season and helped them win three titles.

Ibrahimovic managed to score 28 goals in his first season that was cut short after his knee injury in March. But despite the injury, he had managed to engrave his name in the history of MU.

After the injury, there were doubts whether then 35-year old can return back to football again.

But Zlatan put all the doubts to bed and managed a remarkable comeback after just eight months. But he was nowhere near the player he was back in March, which impacted his performances on the pitch.

The Swedish legend now revealed that he suggested Mourinho to “select someone else” as he tried to get back to full fitness.

He managed a comeback in November, but aggravated injury again and was sidelined for few more weeks. He eventually signed for LA Galaxy in March earlier this year.

“When I was ready, I said to myself ‘I am not there. They had a Zlatan before. After, I was not ready to be that Zlatan,” he said.

“I was selected in many of the games but I told the coach: ‘Listen, I am not ready. I don’t want to disappoint you. The respect I have for my teammates and the coach. Select someone else who can do the job better.’ I stood up and did it, even if I am Zlatan,” he maintained.

After his injury, the Swedish was out of contract in 2017. But MU opted to exercise the option of extending his contract by another year.

However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed his intention was not to have money but instead to play football again.

“The situation was not about having a contract and earning money,” says Ibrahimovic. “It was all the opposite. I said ‘I don’t want a salary, you keep it.'”

The 37-year-old is now plying his trade for LA Galaxy in the United States (US). He announced his arrival in the best way possible by scoring a brace after coming as a substitute in his debut game.

Zlatan had scored 11 goals in the league so far and is amongst the finest players in MLS since his arrival.

“Every time I put on my football shoes, I am enjoying the moment because after the bad injury I had there were not many hopes I could play again,” he said.

Ibrahimovic ready to conquer MLS

Los Angeles, March 31: Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States has another European star in the autumn of his career, Sweden’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who arrived here like a Hollywood star to introduce himself as new player for the Los Angeles Galaxy team.

After a great reception at the airport on Friday, just as it happened with other stars who preceded him, like England’s David Beckham and Steven Gerrard or the Irish Robbie Keane, Ibrahimovic trained with his new team and was also officially presented at a press conference in which he promised that he arrived to “win, win and win”.

Ibrahimovic, who will wear the No. 9 jersey, might play a few minutes in the local derby between the Los Angeles teams playing in the MLS, Galaxy against Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), the new franchise of the championship, on Saturday, reports EFE news agency.

Ibrahimovic appeared before reporters to say that he is ready to go out on the pitch, even though his adrenaline was still high from everything he had experienced in the last few hours, but he feels prepared.

“I know what I’m able to do and I will do it. I know in my head what the game is. Now the rest of my body has to follow,” Ibrahimovic said.

“I am aware of how old I am, 37 years old, but at the same time I feel young and 100 percent prepared,” he added.

Ibrahimovic reiterated that his only goal of signing with Galaxy is to “win, win, win”, and said if he fails to do so he will be the first to be frustrated.

“I’ve come here to win. I’ve already brought my family. My wife can take care of the family and I can do what I’m good at. The lion is hungry,” Ibrahimovic said.

Ibrahimovic joked that he was born old and hoped to die young and recalled that when he arrived in England he was also told he was arriving in a wheelchair.

Along with Ibrahimovic in the presentation was Galaxy coach Sigi Schmid, who praised the career path of the new player and thanked him for having chosen his team despite having other important offers.

Schmid did not say whether he intended to give Ibrahimovic game time in the duel with the LAFC, but he stressed that he was convinced that with his talent and input the team would once again be the winner and fight for a new title as champions.

Ibrahimovic signed with Galaxy for two years and will earn $1.5 million a season, 96 percent less than what he earned at Manchester United.

Lucky To Have Zlatan, Lukaku: Smalling

Manchester, Oct 21 (IANS) Manchester United defender Chris Smalling said on Saturday his club is lucky to have the presence of strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku, who can beat any rival defence.

The Belgian international has scored seven times in his eight appearances for Manchester United in the English Premier League (EPL) this season.

While, the Swedish who re-signed a one-year contract with United earlier this year, had scored 28 goals in 46 games in the previous EPL season, which was cut short due to his knee injury.

The 35-year-old will be available for the Jose Mourinho-managed side once he recovers from the injury.

“A bit like Zlatan (Ibrahimovic), we play off a main man who we feed off and he has been bang in form and we are very lucky to have him and Zlatan when he comes back,” Smalling was quoted saying by Sky Sports.

“He is someone who likes to run in behind, he likes to be involved and he is always stressing to us if we can play him in those channels, then he feels favourite to beat any defender,” the 27-year-old who has made 156 appearances for Manchester United since 2010 added.

Manchester United drew 0-0 against Liverpool in their last EPL fixture.

However, Smalling believes there are not many clubs this season who can stop United from scoring goals.

“You can see that we have attacking players, albeit they still have to defend when Liverpool have those attacks,” the English international said.

“But we kept it tight and we know that when we get those chances, more often than not, when we keep a clean sheet or are defensively sound, then nine times out of 10 we will win that game because not many teams can stop us from scoring,” Smalling added.

Will Be Back Better Than Before Post Injury Layoff: Ibrahimovic

Manchester, Sep 16 (IANS) Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said he will return from injury better than ever, insisting that if it was up to him to make his comeback he would make it “today”.

“I feel good,” Ibrahimovic told Inside United.

“I have trained every day since I had my knee operated on, there is no vacation.”

Ibrahimovic netted 28 goals in all competitions last season, before picking up a major knee injury in April.

He signed a new contract this summer with United till the end of the season. He is not expected to recover fully before the new year.

“When I come back to play football on the field I will be better than before, I am not coming back because I am the one I am, I am coming back to be a better version of the old one.

“I feel good and I feel my movements are there. If it was up to me I would like to play football today but it doesn’t work like that.

“I need to have patience and that’s the way we work. We are in no rush, when we are ready we will be ready. When I am playing again I don’t want any excuses that I was injured, or ‘he just came back, this is his first game’.

“No, I want to feel the same pressure I had before because everything happened. I am looking forward to that moment.”

Ibrahimovic ended his first season at United winning the League Cup and the Europa League.

“I think we can achieve great things. We have to remember the second year of Jose Mourinho is always the best one,” he said.

“This year will be very exciting and with these new players the team is stronger, and I expect us to do great things. I’m just waiting for the moment to get back to the team and to play with them and enjoy the moments,” he added.

Zlatan Won’t Play In Champions League Group Stage For Man United

Manchester, Aug 25 (IANS) Manchester United chief coach Jose Mourinho on Friday said veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not play any part in their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign although the Swedish star penned a new one-year contract this week.

“Do we have space in the Champions League list to have him? Yes, so we don’t need to leave any player outside of the list, but I’m not thinking of Zlatan to play any part of the group phase,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by Espnfc on the eve of United’s home game against Leicester City in the English Premier League (EPL).

Ibrahimovic’s first stint at United was cut short by a knee ligament injury but re-signed with the club he helped win the Europa League last term.

Mourinho hinted Ibrahimovic would be included in the 25-man Champions League squad when it is submitted next week ahead of games against Benfica, Basel and CSKA Moscow.

“Hopefully he can play in the knockout phase, but for that, we need to finish top two (in the group). I don’t want to think about it (a potential comeback date). I don’t even ask, speak about it or discuss with the medical team about it,” Mourinho said.

“He will be an extra man for us in the second part of the season. When I say second part normally we say January after Christmas when the transfer window reopens in January. But I have no idea at all and I think the right way is not even to think or speak about it and just let him do his work step by step and come back when he’s ready.”
