AEW Collision will be the third wrestling show to be delivered for the All Elite Wrestling fanbase within three weeks from now. Over the past few weeks, there have been a lot of chatters over which current AEW roster members will be showing up on the debut night. Now, it appears that the headliner for the episode has been decided. It’ll be none other than CM Punk who will be having a homecoming moment on the show.

Tony Khan took to the TBS Network during Wednesday night’s Dynamite to announce that the former AEW World Heavyweight Champion will make an appearance during the debut episode of AEW Collision set for Saturday, June 17 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Chicago is the home of CM Punk and he’s likely having a big moment when he returns to the company after a long eight-month hiatus.

The announcement of CM Punk’s reaction, however, received mixed reactions from the live crowd of Dynamite in San Diego, California. The former Straight Edge Leader was initially thought to be involved in AEW Collision, but then he wasn’t listed as a member of the show at the Warner Bros Discovery upfronts. The doubts over his appearance were then wiped out as Tony Khan spoke up about the same.

AEW Collision could occur a roster split in the near future

Before this announcement, Punk had long been rumored to return to the AEW but with his difficulties with some members of the AEW locker room, things weren’t as smooth as it seems. The creation of AEW Collision and the debut episode in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, essentially indicated that this could be a perfect opportunity for him to make a comeback. However, Khan was tight-lipped about the situation.

Whether it’s yet to be confirmed, a rumored roster split is also coming via AEW Collision, much like how WWE Raw and Smackdown function. However, there’s no confirmation regarding this. Furthermore, names like Miro and Thunder Rosa recently returned to AEW programming, unceremoniously to add speculations to the roster split.

As of this writing, AEW Collision is scheduled to air on Saturday nights at 8 PM ET on TNT Network for a two-hour show, making it the second major show for AEW. Apart from the flagship program Dynamite on Wednesday nights, AEW also airs Rampage on Friday nights.
