Former WWE Champion Dean Ambrose now going by the name of Jon Moxley made history at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2022. After last night’s weekly episode of Dynamite, he’s the only three-time AEW World Champion in the history of the All Elite Wrestling promotion.

On a night that literally had the landscape changed for All Elite Wrestling, Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson main-evented AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2022 from New York City at the Arthur Ashe Stadium with the Vacant AEW World Championship hanging in the balance.

The two Blackpool Combat Club members stole the show in this headliner in which Moxley got the win with the rear-naked chokehold submission to win the title for the third time in his AEW career.

Back at AEW All Out PPV event, Moxley lost the title to CM Punk but soon after the win, Punk was stripped of the title due to a backstage incident that was a physical altercation with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. With all of them being suspended, AEW announced a championship tournament to crown a new champion.

The final of the ongoing tourney went down on AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2022 between Moxley and Danielson. Last Wednesday night on Dynamite, these won their respective semifinal matches to enter the final.

In the opening match of the September 14 Dynamite, Moxley defeated Sammy Guevara in the first semifinal while in the second semifinal, Danielson defeated Chris Jericho in the main event to confirm the main event battle for this week.

AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2022: New ROH World Champion

Despite the shortcoming of Jericho from last week, the veteran can also call himself a champion following AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2022. In the opening contest of last night’s Dynamite, Jericho defeated Claudio Castagnoli (fka Cesaro in WWE) (c) to win the ROH World Championship. This makes the winner the first superstar to hold world championships in three top promotions, ROH, AEW, and WWE.

AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2022 witnessed another title changing hands as The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) (with WWE Hall Of Famer Billy Gunn) defeated Swerve In Our Glory (Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland) (c) to become the new AEW World Tag Team Champions. However, Interim AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm (c) defeated Britt Baker, Athena, and Serena Deeb in a Fatal-4-Way Match to retain.
